Evo x GSR - 7670 with TMP Cams on 93

I thought people would enjoy seeing the comparison, really illustrates how much cams can hold you back. Results were way better than expected. This is on the same boost with slightly less timing on 93.

Only change was going from GSC S1 to AMS TMP cams, so not only did i gain power everywhere in the curve, but I also gained about 3-400 rpms of spool.

The cam was the only change? An increase of 50 whp and tq? What turbo are you running? I've always heard the effort ($) to change cams wasn't worth the 10-20 whp you would pick up - and that was versus the stock cam. Here you already have an upgraded (from stock) cam and the TMP cam added a ton.

I suppose this assumes the S1's added more over stock. If they did, say even 10 whp, would that indicate that your TMP is 60 whp more than stock? Or is this more of the black magic in the tune than the hardware itself? Is this a winter tune vs a hot summer tune? Seem unreal, but that is awesome for you!

It was the only change, actually it was an increase of 60WHP with the tmp cam over the s1. I'm running a 7670 efr.

Sorry, turbo was in the title. The tune was at the same shop at similar levels of 'aggressiveness'?

That is crazy, I didn't think cams did that much on the X (comparatively to the VIII/IX)

Makes me wish I didn't sell mine. However, I still can't justify paying $2500.00 for install and tune for cams.

thats an amazing increase over an already good cam. really pretty dynograph for 93 octane. very early spool and must just rocket toward redline. nice setup!

Thanks, that was on the stock clutch too. Sadly it started to slip this am (had 51k miles on it, no launches at all but plenty of road course time), with that power I think an exedy twin HD is the way to go, thoughts?

Yes, same shop/dyno/tuner and he said the cams woke it up so much he actually took out a little timing.

OP,

What made you chose these cams over the GSC s2's?

I spoke to GSC and they thought that the S1s would spool my turbo faster, and based on lots of other cars with a 7670 kit and tmp cams, it seemed to improve not hurt spool. So i wanted better spool really, that was my main reason the added power was a bonus.

Sold!

Love my Exedy Twin.

Do you have a separate tune for the road course? Lower boost?

What hotside is on your 7670? Those are pretty insane numbers and a great graph. Power curve looks perfect.
