Sirius SUCKS
You guys that are talking bitrates are funny. "64kbps" and "48kbps" mean nothing if you don't specify the type of compression, codec version and so on.
Noize, I've had Sirius in three vehicles, all with different implementations (Sirius radio in my IX, Sirius tuner attached to aftermarket HU in my Hummer and now the Mitsu OEM Sirius on my X), and I have not experienced anything that I would call "poor" quality. Sirius is great...much better than FM. Maybe something is wrong with your Rockford setup...

Sirius uses the Lucent PAC codec and bitrate is very much an issue. See the graph here: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/bi...vs_quality.htm They use a lower bitrate on the talk channels and a higher one on the music channels. Quality of talk is no better than AM (low bitrate), and the music channel quality is no better than FM (a little worse, actually). It will never be CD quality.

I think anyone who is used to quality sound has to agree. But I think the Rockford system in general is pretty weak. If you don't, that's where we differ. If you want to hear a wicked OEM system, listen to a Logic7 system in an E90 BMW. Sirius uses the Lucent PAC codec and bitrate is very much an issue. and i have sirius and its perfect, i got the digital modual that connects to my cd player so i dont loose any quality with fm transmission. goes in digital and stays that way!
I like my sirius too, it works fine for me. Cuts of easily though under bridges and even road signs lol. I see, I never really cared for Howard Stern...not much into the talk shows.
only listen to like 3 channels. strobe, chill, and a jazz station, but it definitely has pros. no commercials and no static.
sucks that you can't put the shark antenna on tho. it's probably not worth it to renew your subscription if you got the aux cable for you ipod or mp3.
