Sirius SUCKS
Thank goodness it was free for 6 months with the purchase of the car.
Its 100% about content and 0% about quality.
I'm not the purest audiophile out there, but IMO you don't have to be to hear the problem with it. I have the SSS Rockford system, and Sirius sounds like a realplayer audio stream over a slow internet connection. Its just compressed to the point of ridiculousness, like MP3s at a bit rate of 64kbps or so. It gives you ear fatigue almost immediately if you turn the volume up past 16 or so.
FM sounds better. CD sounds infinitely better. I will not be re-upping when the free trial period runs out.

I had Sirius w/a regular cd deck (as well as Dishnetwork) & it sounds fine. Only problem would be slightly cutting out under overpasses. It's great when you're in the middle of nowhere w/o an iPod. But, I never used Sirius that much because I have an iPod.
+6546516351 for howard. I have had Sirius for over a year now, granted it runs though an alpine and it sounds better than cd quality. I would complain to mitsu. OEM Rockford is not exactly "audiophile" product. Rockford from 10 years ago is a different story.

I've had OEM Sirius in three vehicles and it sounds as good as satellite radio can sound. I've also had aftermarket Sirius in one vehicle and it sounded just as good as the OEM kits. I also have a home docking station and one at my office. Equal sound quality from all of them.
I wonder if the OEM Rockford stereo doesn't transfer the digital satellite audio signal in full digital when the sound is reproduced? That might be part of the reason for the downgraded sounded quality. Especially if you're saying that FM sounds better, something isn't exactly right with the Sirius system in the Evo X.

I've had Sirius for about 3 years now and I like it. I don't have a car with sirius built in but I have one of the aftermarket units they sell. Most of them have Fm modulators which simply sends the audio signal over a preset station to your vehicles radio. Sound quality this way wasn't the best but their are places that sell wiring harnesses that you can wire the sirius radio right in to your factory radio or even aftermarket ones. As for the X with the sirius built right in that sucks I was looking forward to it when I get mine....
P.S. Howard not so much... But BTLS or the bubba the love sponge show now we are talking! lol

I agree, the quality on Sirius is crap. Someone told me, and I may be wrong on numbers here, that Sirius for most channels is 48k, but for the top stations, its a bit higher. CD quality my butt!

Want to know how bad it really is? I listened to a song on it with a friend the other day, then happened to have the CD of the same song in the car. We put that in immediately after and were blown away by the difference.
I wonder if they all sound like this? If so, down with satellite radio.
