EVO X CarPuter

Well, I am finished with the first phase of my carputer setup for the X. Here are some pictures of it. (I am still cleaning up the mess )

7 Inch Touchscreen custom mounted behind dash kit.

Another picture of the dash.

USB Hub mounted where the factory AUX ports were and the DVDRW Drive.

Computer itself mounted under the driver's seat. It is a little messy in the picture, but this was right after I put the seat back in.

Where I have the USB cable hidden for my OpenPort 2.0 when it is not in use.

---------------

This is just the beginning stages, but as now it has the following features:

Wireless internet through Wifi and 3G services
Navigation
DVD / DiVX / Xvid (any codec you can think of is pretty much installed)
Bluetooth support (VOIP, Handsfree, Music Streaming, etc)
XM Radio
HD Radio (along with regular AM/FM)
Backup Camera
ODBII Diagnostics (ECUFlash Coming soon, and EVOScan once it supports the X and the OpenPort 2.0 cable so I can use it for my gauges and logging)

The whole system can be controlled through the touchscreen or through voice commands.

---------------

When the X gets close enough to my house to pick up my home WiFi network, it automatically starts syncing my MP3 collection from my home server (about 100 GB). Next I will have it keep a constant connection to my home network over the 3G connection.

Currently I am trying to finish up the fiberglass box for the trunk to hold my subs and amps.

I have my entire MP3 collection with me at all times and when EVOscan supports the X and OpenPort 2.0 I can use it to have all my gauges on the screen. I am installing a wideband next week to hook up to the computer.

If anyone is interested in one, let me know what you want it to do and I can price it out and build one for you. I can make everything in dash also. This is just my first one right now. I will be building one for my wife's 08 Outlander next with a rear screen for the kids.

Nice work. I know what it takes to install and build one of those. takes around 60hours about as long as it took me to build my entertainment media centre pc too By doing it yourself, you can save about $500 over a buying a prebuilt miniATX system normally.

The motherboard I have has an RCA input. That input is for the rear camera. I am strongly considering putting in a second camera up front in the grill with infrared support.
