Head Unit Amp help

I recently purchased the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 for my X. the questions I have are these. I have searched the forums for these answers and was hoping to get some feedback b4 i go to audio place to have the unit installed.

1. Do I need a new amp/should I get a new amp?

2. What does it mean 2 channel amp, 3 channel ect?

3. If I do / should get a new amp ....any sugggestions?

I just put in a AVIC 90BT in my X. From what I understand it is not possible to use the current Rockford amp with another head unit, so I would definately get a power amp.

Each channel can be connected to a speaker. If you get a mono amp that will only power a sub-woofer, two channel will power 2 speakers and so on....

I went for the new digital amp from Alpine. I went for the PDX-5 it powers front, back and subwoofer. I have to say it sounds incredible.
