does reception suffer with shorty antenna?
the oem one is kinda long and thinky of getting shorty antenna as first mod. any advice? Getting evo x mr and wanna keep it in the stock class for auto-x.
no it doesn't affect radio wave reception. if you're any good with your hands you can make your own antenna and use the 15-30 bucks for something else. All you need to do is take the antenna out (unscrews), take the tip off (save that part), cut the antenna to whatever length you desire, take about 1" of the shielding off the wire, boil the rubber tip that you pulled off and slide it back on the newly cut end of your antenna. if you don't have a rubber tip just sauder the end.

As far as your local stations you'll get your reception,I noticed I use to get stations that is far from me like 70 miles away but now nothing.I don't really care about that since I listen so cheap *** sirius if I'm listening to the radio.
