does reception suffer with shorty antenna?

My reception has diminished. But who listens to the radio in these things anyways- with iPods and MP3's who needs the radio. Hell i just listen to the engine and exhaust.

I've had the 2" Perrin antenna for about a year: No issues with AM/FM, Satellite or anything else that needs reception
