Pioneer D-Series
Anyone have experience with these speakers?

They are the ones that use woven lava rock fibers in the cones. Sounds like a gimmic to me, but my local shop recommended them, saying basically you couldn't match the quality without spending twice as much. But when I went on Amazon, there were some nasty reviews.
I'm looking to replace the stock Fosgates, looks like TS-D170C and TS-D1602R would be required
I'd be running them off the Kicker ZX700.5 that I had installed yesterday. BTW...Wow--the factory RF sub hits a lot harder with that amp!

Well, I had a real nice setup in my Audi...but that was an Audi. I figure going high-end in an Evo is an exercise in futility. Unless I were going to just sit parked with the engine off to listen to music, I doubt I would notice a significant difference between "decent" speakers and "exceptional" ones. Plus, the Kicker amp provides high, reasonably clean power, but it's not even close to audiophile quality.
I don't think I'd want to spend more than $500 on upgrading the cabin speakers. The lead installer at my shop was saying that I couldn't get anything that would be a noticeable improvement over the Pioneers within that price range.
I was ready to replace the factory sub, but apparently all it needed was a better amp. The kicker amp is like 3X as big as the stock Fosgate one and puts out more RMS than the stock did at peak
