front door speaker depth

looking to pick up some speakers in the coming months, and i think i've decided on these 4 way pioneers all the way around here. I reckon they should fit diameter wise, i'm just worried about the mounting depth in the front so it doesn't interfere with the window.

it says the depth is 2.25", so does anyone have a guess as to if these will fit ok or not?

oh yeah, and whats the difference between pioneers' vanilla products and their "premier" line besides warranty? example: here

The depth is fine. There is no difference in performance between Pioneer & Premeir. I would recommend that you stay away from the 4 way speakers. There is no real protection for the tiny "supertweeter" they use and it's only real benefit is to get the neighborhood dogs to chase your car. A couple of points to remember:

Coax speaker power ratings are normally the average of the individual speakers it has. A 100 Watt coax may have a mid that can handle 150 and a tweeter capable of 50.

They use simple caps that are low quality to filter speakers at 6db per octave. This makes them not sound as good, espescially at higher volume.

You only need a 2 way to hear the full spectrum of sound. A 1" tweeter will play higher frequencies than you will ever hear, there is no need for additional tweeters except to make the hunk of plastic in front of the cone look cooler..

Unless your doing 5.1 leave the stock rears and get better front speakers with the same $$$$, hopefully components.

well, thanks for the input, but i know enough about audio junk, i know what i like and more importantly i know what i can afford. components are way out of the question, not even possible, and really my ears can't discern between some awesome Behringer speakers and klipsch multimedia spakers

i was looking at pioneer rev's also so i'll just have to decide. but the depth is definately OK?

go with the rev's instead of the 4 way. Far more durable, sound better and they will fit no problem.

no 4 ways.

Look what I posted about the MBQuarts...I searched high and low and will not buy another brand until I the Quarts are proven to be inferior.

I actually just installed those speaker today in my front doors. The fitment depth wise is fine, no issues at all. I bought the oversized 6 1/2's which are essentially 6 3/4's. Because of the way that the stock speakers have a mounting bracket built into them, the new pioneers could not be bolted in on all four corners, but could on 2 of them. They secure just fine and sound amazing!!! The door is a pain in the *** to come off but with a little muscle and convincing, it came off without damage.

I got 3 of the 4 to screw down on my 6 3/4 pioneer...

The german joints I put in, I had to tap all new holes for, but it actually works much better, there is a slight vibration when I start the car up on cold days, but within 2 minutes of the heater on the floor it goes away, and they were able to mount well behind the door grilles.

after putting 4 different sets of speakers in my doors, I am amazed that I still have all 6 of those little black nipple/screw covers.
