Hope this helps for those looking at Security options for their X's. I am personally an aftermarket security fan. Having installed hundreds of alarms in a plethora of vehicles, I always look for ways to make it as painful as possible to steal.
Bottom line, an alarm is a deterrence, it is not an absolute stop. If a Thief wants your car, it is gone. Even Lo-Jack can be Bi-passed, and confused with a jammer, and a laptop.

In my Bimmer, I have installed More back up systems, and piezo sirens than there is common sense for. I have 2 back up battery Sirens mounted to the frame. (cut the power, the sirens go off, and takes an act of congress to shut them off without a barrel key) 1 back up battery (if main power to alarm is cut, or battery goes dead, the alarm runs for days) 1 proximity sensor (motion detection, inside alarm [window peek warn away]) 1-10 degree tilt sensor (rims and block protection) 1 sonic glass break sensor (detects the frequency of glass breaking), and a 2 way system that calls my Iphone, and tells me whats wrong, opens my doors, and starts the car. The alarm is remote mounted and put in a place that a thief would have to literally take apart to get to. I extended the wires, and ran them along the factory conduits.
If you are a thief, and you want my car, you can have it. But, I am going to make you work really really hard at getting it.

http://www.viper.com/SmartStart/iPhone/ this is the alarm I use. Phenomenal product.
DEI 508D (proximity sensor)
DEI 515R (back up battery siren)
DEI 520T (Back up battery for system)
DEI 506T (glass break sensor)
DEI 507M (Tilt Sensor)

Once again, hope it helps. If you have questions im here to help. Cheers!

If anything that I can think of, would be a remote start add on. As it seems you want to keep the factory functionality of your fast key dongle. I am not sure if a company has made one that can program into your factory remote yet. you may want to contact DEI at www.directed.com and ask them if they have what you are looking for. If not, you may just have to get a separate key fob that operates Just the remote start function, with no addition security, or functions, just pure remote start. For instance, this system from DEI is remote start, lock, unlock, lights, and has output for horn honk if you want (keep in mind you dont have to use the lock/unlock function, light flash, or any other options for that matter, but you will still pay for them) http://www.viper.com/P-4102V/Viper-5...e-Start-System It is kind of pricey though, and you will also have to buy several accessories just to get your car to start without the key in it.

Also, if your car is a manual, then you will need to buy the clutch bypass kit. This makes it so if you forget that your car is in gear when you remote start, it doesn't take off on you or run over some kid, or flatten a baby seal or something like that.

Go "yelp" a respectable car audio, and security shop, do your homework, and don't get mesmerized by box store prices. I have been installing for 10 years, and it never ceases to amaze how quickly the customer gets jabbed in the wallet when they don't go in armed with knowledge. DEI, Autopage, and Prestige are the only alarm companies I trust anymore. I would suggest you start with them.

Good luck, and post up when you get the job done.

thx so much for the info. unfortunately where i'm located there is no pro installer and it will be a diy for me.

i wont mind investing in a full system and i've been looking deep into this system :
Python 592 Responder HD Color SuperCode SST 2-Way Security and Remote Start System

that will be the first thing i need and then i'm trying to figure out which bypass interface module i need for '08 EvoX MR SST.

then it will be the other accessories such as tilt sensor and such.

i can get almost everything from amazon at a good price but i cannot find the correct interface module even on directed website and evo X is not listed.

i fpund this but not sure if it will work or not ???

Well, that will allow the vehicle to start, it isnt a door lock interface though, I am waiting for Autopage to make their "blades" compatible with something other than the raider pickup. The 5902 is a beautiful alarm system and allows a lot of expansion in the future. If you have a blackberry, or an Iphone, you can also add in the module to communicate with your car anywhere in cell phone range. You can start, lock, unlock, and status your car, all from your phone.

If you go with the xpress kit, be warned, that you dont get the Hideakey version. You will loose a key permanently while you have the alarm. Get the PKUMIT3, it is fully compatible with the Evo 08-10. They do state though, that you may need a dealer scan tool to program if your remotes are unable to program your own remotes.

once again, make sure that you get the interface if you have a manual transmission. Either that, or use the Turbo timer function and you will have no choice but to put the car in neutral. When you start the install make sure you grab a couple of resistor packs, and some 5mv Diodes to isolate your door locks and triggers, also get some relays if you want headlight activation, and horn honk as well. And the most important things of an install, dont tap an airbag wire, and hide the alarm brain, and wires. if you leave the wires all spider webbed, you might as well paint a sign to the thief where to go, and pulse your Xpresskit module so he can start your car . Good luck, and post up!

thx for the advise . i will look more into it.

so here's what is needed ...

alarm 5902

pkumit3

some modules such as shock sensor, tilt sensor etc

abt the iphone thing im not in usa i think it might not work for me ...

also have to figure out how to do the door locks

but what i really need is without sacrificing a key n remote start for a start then add on others later on.

mine is auto.

it would be great if someone could post some pix n a little more detailed guide as i do not want to buy the worng stuff n waste $ n new to this high tech alarm stuff.

thx again. i gotta chk with local dealer if they are willing to program it for me if both of my original remote is unable to program pukmit3.
