Stock Alarm System?

I'm guessing that the Evos come with some sort of security system because it has the "red alarm" button on the keyless entry and there is that little red light that flashes after you lock the doors. I know that doesn't actually mean it has one but if it does how good is the stock alarm system?

It is pretty good, I thought about getting an after market, but the stock one isn't so bad. So I decided to keep it stock. Unless you really want the function of aftermarket alarms, such turbo timer, touch start. Meh, I don't need any of that. Com'on, you heard of people's car get break in even WITH the best protection they could have gotten. You are the owner and keep an eye out on your car and know your neighborhood.

lojack being installed in a week...

Aside from that, I don't keep anything of value in my car except maybe a pair of sunglasses, and a bunch of burned CDs. So the factory system is enough for me. I beg someone to steal my car.

As far as the stock alarm goes I think its pretty good, better than my aftermarket Viper alarm on my VIII. I do wish the range was a little better though on the stock remote.

Sorry to bump an old thread. I searched around for information about what the stock Evo X alarm is capable of and this thread is what I found. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything here about how the stock alarm works. If the answer to my questions already exist somewhere else, I will greatly appreciate it if someone points me in the right direction.

I recently lost my IX thanks to thieves stripping it down while it sat in the underground parking garage of the apartment complex I live in. I will be moving out of the apartment and into a house in the near future. However, this house doesn't have an attached garage. It does, however, have a driveway to the side of the house. Therefore, in addition to motion activate lights spanning the entire driveway, I need any information I can get on what alarm systems and features exist that are compatible with the X GSR that I am looking to get. This brings me to the question that I cannot find the answer to:

What is the Evo X stock alarm capable of?

Kind of off topic now: The stock alarm undoubtedly does not have these following features, but ideally, I would want an alarm system that:

-Runs off an independent battery.
This is so that if the thieves disable the car battery, the alarm will still operate.

-Lets me know if someone is inside the vehicle.
I was told that there are some sort of infrared sensor-based alarms that will sound off if someone even sticks a hand into an open window when armed. Not sure if this is true or not.

I'd wish I could know if someone even goes as far as touching the car, but it seems that systems capable of this are very sensitive and prone to frequent false alarms. If an aftermarket alarm is mentioned, keep in mind that I am not looking for remote start or turbo timer capabilities. I'd go as far as saying that I would not want these features at all to avoid overcomplicating the FAST key system. I'd want an alarm to be something that will let me, as well as all my neighbors know that someone is up to no good, and nothing more than that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

alarm

If they want it bad enough, they'll take it even when you're in it. Anything and everything is just a deterrent for them to think twice before they actually break in to the car.

An aftermarket 2 way is prob your best bet, since it will alert you when it goes off, of course you must be in the range of the alert.

can someone enlighten me on this stock alarm business? what are you all talking about? i can roll my windows down, lock the door using the remote...click twice so horn sound.

i have fast-key so i leave the remote far far away. red light is blinking on dash...all good and armed right? so i reach through open window and pull on inside handle. it unlocks automatically when i pull and door opens. no horn, no alarm...

so what are you guys talking about?

The only thing I really want is a shock sensor. I added one to my previous car per a DIY someone had posted. Seems like we should be able to do it with this car as well.
