replacing the stock radio, well sorta...

i want to take out my radio, put a radio in either the glove box or in the arm rest, just somewhere else, and then put some gauges where the radio normally is, has anyone tried this yet? like with a carbon fiber sheet behind it or similar. and does anyone have the part number for the surround plastic...
any help would be awesome,
thanks

Have you thought about going with software based gauges? Get a good double din head unit that supports an auxiliary video input while driving and then look at the camp2 or similar.

Or you could do a single din radio and where the pocket is on the dash kit, put your guages. I've see someone do that also.

There are many people on this forum who have a single din radio with gauges on top or below.
