Point of Interests - Navi Question

Thanks for your insightful response. Evidently, you misread the topic as well, so it's a bit frustrating.
I know that this unit does POI's, my gripe is that it does it by category, rather than just typing in what I want. If you know of a way to do it by name, please walk me through it as I am either just stupid or can not understand the manual. Yes, I did RTFM.

Wow, I really appreciate that you went through that! Very helpful and I apologize if I seemed a bit negative in my responses, hard to impose context online!
Anyway, I'll give that a shot and see if that works. It's too bad it won't just use the closest location as to where you are exactly. I see you had to choose the nearby city.

Perhaps it isn't the best approach, when asking for help, to blame members because you aren't getting the exact response you want? People are trying to help you. Give them a chance to help before jumping down their throat with all the comments
The answer to your question is in the Navigation user manual which came with your car. Maybe the dealership didn't include one with your car? If not, please ask the dealership for it.
Searching for a POI by name is a function that is available on the MMCS. I've used it a handful of times and it works. The biggest downfall is that it may not include every single location in your area because the navigation data is a year or two old. So newer locations won't show up. There is a new navi DVD available that might help with that issue. Not sure how current that data is.

This type of response from you is exactly what I was talking about. I didn't give you the exact answer you wanted to hear, so you say that I "misread" and that you're now "frustrated." To be honest, nobody on here cares if you're frustrated.
I understood your request perfectly. I gave you the correct answer. If you wanted more than that, you could have asked that in your first post and we all would have gotten there a lot faster. Or, you could have read the Navi manual. The answer is in there. Perhaps you just missed it? It isn't the world's best written and organized manual. Things aren't easy to find in there.
Thankfully someone just posted a video to show you that it is possible
Please re-read my post. The answer to your question is now in bold type.

I knew that was possible. I implied that in my original post. I wanted to be able to do it w/out specifying the city I was currently in, and evidently this can not be done.
I thanked that person for his video and we're on our way. What do you have to add to this thread besides the fact that you're easilly offended?
For the record, the answer to the OP's question is in the MMCS owner's manual (like I stated earlier in this thread). And the answers are actually very easy to find. Sections 3-5 and 3-8 provide very detailed instructions on how to find a POI within a 60 mile radius of where your car is located and they also clearly detail how to type in a POI and search by the name of a specific POI. And a whole bunch of other ways to find a POI are also detailed.
