Oem Amp Sucks..
I just spent a day wiring up my new 5 channel amp. I'm getting a LOT of noise from the line outs coming from the rockford head unit though, and would like to use fade too. Figured I'd try the speaker outs to see if they are any cleaner.
If not I'll try running my own RCA's away from other wires.
How do I tap into the 4 channel speaker outputs of the head unit now that it's not detecting the CAN-bus?
Is there pins missing on the plug that goes to the back of the head unit that I need to tap into? I'm kinda lost on that part.
I don't understand what pin 28/38 means. There's one 20 pin connector and one 18 pin connector that goes to the back of the radio. I looked for the colors stated, and they don't match up at all.
Any help or pictures/schematics would be great.
Edit:
I was able to find what looks to be accurate pinout info here:

The file called "2008 Evo X Audio -AMI CUSTOMS-.pdf" looks to be what I need. I'll take a look tonight and see if I can make sense of it all as this has conflicting information from the OP's.

The 2012 Evo Rockford Fosgate head unit does NOT have speaker level output pins in the 20 pin plug. See pic. I labeled the pins on the white harness according to the PDF I linked in case anyone needs this info.
I don't know how you guys are doing 4 channel speaker level outputs from this head unit but to me, looks impossible. You must have the base radio? Not the RF? I didn't know the base radio uses the RF amp?
Not that big of a deal. With gains set correctly on a 5 channel amp, not having fade isn't a problem.
I did trace down the preamp out wires, cut them and ran my own spliced to RCAs to try and fix my buzzing/whine/alternator noise. It helped a little. I then did tons of research but ultimately fixed it the rest of the way simply by adjusting the gain on the amp much lower, and turn the radio volume up more. The whine is %99 gone. The sound is clean and powerful. FWIW the JBL GTO-5EZ is a great amp for this.

there's another white plug back there that has the standard grey/white/purple/green speaker outputs.
splicing RCA wires into a preamp out line (not sure what you found but there's no preamp section on the RF unit) is not the good way to do it, you want to get into the speaker harness (described above) and use that for the hi level inputs on your amp.
DESPERATELY NEED HELP. Car is all apart in the garage right now.
I've been digging around with my multimeter for hours trying to figure out this stupid 18 pin connector.
I can't for the life of me figure the pin #'s everyone references. Nor can I find the wire colors you said.
See pic. What am I doing wrong?
