Dumb Question: Functionality of OEM System

Hello.

I have the SSS + Navigation OEM kit in my car.

With this, I have menu options to, say, change how many times the horn honks when I lock the car.

If I swap out this system with an aftermarket system, the navi system/radio, how do I access this stuff? Can I, or do I have to go to a dealer?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the horn/locking sequence can still be programmed via the remote on your key.. it's in the manual somewhere, but I found this info from another thread (link)..

Step 1. Press the LOCK Button one time and hold it in for about 10 seconds.
Step 2. While holding the LOCK Button in, press the UNLOCK Button once and hold it in.
Step 3. Count for about 10 seconds while holding both butttons in and let go at the SAME time.. And there yah go.
Not really sure if there's any other functionality you'd be losing by swapping out the MMCS unit.. since I don't have one, I'm not 100% sure of all the features it has.

All of the other functions are still available from the ETACS. You'd need to go to the dealer to have them toggled, though, so set them before you replace your head unit.

Just curious.. what are some of the other vehicle-specific functions on the MMCS?

And what's an ETACS.. a dealer tool??

ETACS stands for Electric Time and Alarm Control System. It is accessed through the MUT-III tool that the dealer uses to interface with the computer.

Some of the other things you can toggle:

Auto headlights off
Unlock driver door > all doors or unlock all doors on unlock request
One or three flashes when you momentarily touch the turn signal
Interior light turn off time

I'll see if I can find a complete list somewhere...

^^ Good info, thanks! A complete list would be appreciated, but no biggie if you can't find it.
