I need to learn to format an MP3 cd setup

I am not up on all the tech stuff. I want to burn some MP3's for my car. The problem I keep getting is once in the car it reads them in 28 different folders. Basically I get 31 songs in folder 2 and then one song in every even number folder going forward so it is a PITA to find songs or switch them. Also, is there any way to burn them catagorically (me organizing them), since it always ends up just doing alphabetically.

What do I have to do when burning them to get it organized so it won't scatter like this? I tried a search but not sure what to search for? Thanks for any info.

It's a lot of work but here's a suggestion.
If your player in your car reads MP3s, you can do what I've done in the past for this.
Use a short abbreviation ahead of each mp3 file name, and try to shorten the file name because some of these player displays dont help much.

for example...
original name = Michael Jackson - Beat It
new name = pop-MichaelJacksonBeatIt

original name = Ferry Corsten - Punk
new name = tec-FerryCorstenPunk

just an example, as long as all the types of songs (genre catagory) are given some kind of prefixer it should be a little easier to manage selections.

If this is not what you are after, I seldom get on this forum but just read this and thought to help with something I know well. So if you have any question, use the email feature and I will try to respond.

OK, I get that. Good idea, that allows me to group them together. Now, I just need info on how to collate them into the "folders" so they are not all over the place.

Sounds like youre using windows media player to burn? If you are using windows xp, you get options when you pop in a blank disc. Select the option that says open writeable cd folder. From there you can create folders and drag and drop mp3 files into them. When finished, click write these files to cd in the upper left hand corner.
