2011 X MR MMCS update worked!

Ok, so I'm sure like many of you, I was upset that I couldn't plug in my iPhone 4 and play music properly. I used bluetooth, but the sound quality is pretty bad, so I stuck to satellite radio.

Well, after some procrastinating, I went to the dealership today and asked about it. They had an update for it! They plugged in a usb stick with it, followed some strangely difficult instructions, and in 5 minutes I could plug my phone in, and browse the music library exactly like I can on my phone. All from the comfort of the touch screen!

The fact that my phone wasn't recognized was literally my only complaint with the entire car. Now I can listen to music straight off my phone, hardwired, and it sounds fantastic.

This was a huge deal for me, so I came straight here to say that it works now!

Great news !! Sucks that this has to be done by the dealer. This is what I found from the mitsu fuse website:

I wonder if somebody here can upload the files to save everybody a trip to the dealer (and the time to explain this )

http://www.mitsubishifuse.com/support.taf?p=7&n=1

FUSE System allows you to update your system software and new software is now available. It will allow you to enjoy USB audio connection with an iPod /iPhone with operating software of 4.0 or above.

For FUSE Handsfree Link System™ users:
Please ask your Mitsubishi dealer if you would like to update your FUSE System software. The update will be conducted by the dealer.

As it might take some time to prepare for the update, we recommend you make an appointment with your dealer.

Note:
Once the update is completed, the system will be reset and the following information will be deleted:

Phone book data
Pairing data
Voice Recognition data
Software Ver. Description Covered Vehicle Available date
9.0.0 Allow USB audio connection for your iPod and iPhone with the iOS4. All FUSE System June, 2011
Warranty Information
Hardware or software updates needed to support and/or connect Mitsubishi vehicles to non-Mitsubishi supplied devices (such as, but not limited to, cell phones, music players, tablets, laptops or other audio, video and data sources) are not warrantable

It's possible to upgrade your old system to new one with USB.
You need new BT unit 8785A025. Also you should modify harness. How to connect you can check there -> https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/9526418-post19.html
Also you need USB wire to BT unit - 8755A049. And usb socket - 8755A049.
Your old head unit won't work with FUSE system. It works either with MMCS N-04 or new 1CD head unit from the cars with Fuse.

I called a local dealer and they know about this - but want to charge $99 for the update and claimed that this is what Mitsubishi told them.

OP - do you have to pay anything for this?

Hey, I forgot to mention the price. 99 is absurd, but frankly, the 35 I paid was also pretty nuts for what was really 5 minutes of work. And I think this should count as a mandatory update, or something like a recall.

But, I was more than happy to pay it, because I wanted that fixed so badly.

Oh, and I was told that it doesn't erase your phone book or anything like that. I'll test that later though.

Yeah, I'm kinda disappointed Mitsu doesn't make it more widely available. I'm sure the file exists somewhere. If I knew, I'd let everyone know!

Man, I just called my local dealer and they supposedly don't have it yet. I'll call back Monday and talk to someone else see if they know about it and hopefully fix it for free.

Oh you are in San Diego too. Which dealership have you called ? El Cajon told me the same thing, they will have it next week, but $99 labor.
