I am actually quite happy with my current setup as described above. But, I keep coming across comments that say if I don't use hpf, it could damage speakers.

No.. in my last post, I didn't mean that you shouldn't use a HPF at all - I just meant that you should continue using the 4ch amps built-in crossovers, but maybe raise them a bit to cut out a little more of the bass from the main speakers, which should give you a little more clarity and crispness (that you said you had w/the JVC HPF turned on).

Just don't use both the amp and head units HPFs at the same time, or you'll have too steep of a cut-off.

But ya, definitely keep using a high-pass filter to avoid any damage and to allow your speakers to play more efficiently in their appropriate range.. and if you don't feel like messing w/the amps, and are pretty happy with the sound, I'd just keep it just like you have it now and enjoy
