I got the sight and sound package in our 2011 evo x. I've noticed at the beginning of a song the subwoofer really puts out a lot of bass. After about 20 seconds the subwoofer turns down on its own and you can't hear it anymore. Is there not enough power from the stock amp to power the subwoofer? Has anyone else noticed this with their system?

YES! I have noticed this too on my 2011 Ralliart Premium. I has searching for people who noticed the same thing. I am wondering if swapping in another sub would make a difference?

I thought about doing that, just haven't had a chance to buy a new sub yet.

I believe it's the amp. It has a auto leveling feature so it doesn't damage the speakers I believe. Your best bet is to replace the amp.

I have the navsystem in my car, isn't the amp built into that? I don't want to have to replace it, is there anyway I can hook up a more powerful amp to that?

The amp is under the drivers seat at least for the nonnav units

The amp autolevels the signals for the speakers so you can't blow them. If you want to stop that you will have to replace the amp. Zeroflux did a thread on this and it is possible, I actually did it myself the other day. If you want to undertake this mod it will take patience and time on your part. I ran into a couple problems when I did this and I'm still trying to work a couple out. I only did the change out on Thursday of last week but its a learning experience and one that yields a nice result.

If you decide to keep the stock head unit then you will retain your steering wheel controls. Look at the pin out for the speakers that is in the thread I've included at the bottom of this post. The colors might not match up exactly but the pins will be the same. For some reason my harness had other colors than what they should have been but it still works out.

I reccommend that you take your time and don't just lop the connector off right off the bat. Go through and if you are going to run the fronts and the rears paired then cut only those wires you're going to connect while you're doing them. I jumped the gun because I started getting irritated with working around the plug and lopped it off and then had to go back and pair wire color with the correct pin.

As far as I've experienced this is a list of things you will need:
1x Amp (4 channel will work but 5 channel will be better for if you decide to go with a new head unit)
1-2x crossovers (depending on how this will allow you to keep your tweeters if you have them)
1x Wiring kit
1x roll of speaker wire
1x box of wire connectors
1x wire stripper/crimper
1x rca plug to splice to

Possibly:
1x line out converter. (I'm not sure on this because I didn't use one and the amp runs the signal fine however I'm running into the problem of my amp going into protect mode when I turn it up past a certain point.)

As I figure more of this mod out I'll post info. Ultimately I'm going to be installing a new head unit. However, in the mean time I'm going to be just keeping the stock HU and trying variations of things till I figure out what works.

Welcome to the most overpriced underperforming stereo in the history of Automobildom. I couldn't wait to gut the amp and speakers. The Rockford system is Awful.

30 second fix for the OEM RF system's auto balancing problem:

1. Press and hold (approximately 2 seconds ) the sound adjustment switch.
2. Press the sound adjustment switch (approximately 1.5 seconds or less) to switch to the SCV setting screen.
3. SCV ON (when the automatic correction function is ON) or SCV OFF (when the automatic correction function is OFF) is displayed.
4. Turn the sound adjustment switch knob to switch between SCV ON and OFF.
5. Press the sound adjustment switch or leave as it is for 10 seconds or more.
6. Go back to the audio normal screen.

Enjoy.

I'm not very good in setting the sound in my RF system... is there anyone able to suggest me a good setting? Bass, treble, front- rear etc etc?

The rockford fosgate factory upgrade is decent, but not mind blowingly good. But I found when I use to have it is punch at 5+, treble +1, mid+1, bass 0 but this is really just a personal preference. I just found the system to not hit too hard and sound strained or break down on these settings for me, while keeping the juicy mids loud and clear without being overshadowed by overwhelming bass response.

Everyone likes their music a bit different.
