Upgrade my 2010 to 2011+ navigation system?

First, I just want to mention that I suck at electronics and know very little about wiring, audio equipment, etc. I have a 2010 GSR w/SSS (no-navi) and am wondering can I swap in a factory navi headunit from a 2011+ and have everything work (steering wheel buttons, Bluetooth buttons, Bluetooth audio streaming, Sirius) without any additional work needed? I'm quite jealous of my 2011+ friends who get the BT audio streaming so that is a must for me if I upgrade.

I was also looking at some aftermarket options on Crutchfield but honestly all the adapters, kits, and harnesses required make me a bit nervous.

Thanks in advance guys

I believe that would be a direct swap. When I bought my 2008 it did not have the Navi installed from the factory - so I got the dealer to throw it into the deal and they installed it for me. I think all you need is the Navi unit and the installation panel. Everything else should be plug and play. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the FUSE system will work.

Send a PM to RussellM. He always seems to know these kinds of things

Wait a second, I just remembered that the factory nav unit has an audio HDD that I can load my CD's into! With that in mind, I really don't need BT audio streaming from my phone. I think I'll just try and find a used OEM nav unit from a 2010...unless a 2008 model would work fine too?

Any navi will work the 2011+ model added FUSE and the like or 2010 either way
If you dont care about the FUSE the navi from 08+ will work for you.

If im not mistaken you can also buy a bluetooth kit or something.. I dont beleve it has all the functions of FUSE but it should allow you to stream from ipods and phones and the like!

FIY it is 10000000 times easier to find a navi from an 08+ than a 2011+ with fuse.... so unless ur keen on paying full price for a new one $2500 +/- Your either gonna wait along time to get the 2011+ or grab up one of the many 08- that are running around ebay and forums. I am about to cave myself and grab what I can instead of trying to wait and find one with fuse

At this point, I'll be happy with a 2008 or 2010 I suppose. What are the differences? 2010 has a larger HDD and newer maps?

Think only a few of the 08 ones had the 30gig hdd... rest are 40gig

Maps may or may not be newer... Even the newest maps are a year or so behind.
I beleve the map update disk is like $150 or something.

I'd really just go aftermarket navigation cept I don't like the way it looks... The OEM just looks like its supposed to be there. The non nav radios look like ***.

Wish there was more pics of peoples aftermarket navi with diffrent dash kits... so far what I've seen most of the dash kits look like **** and navi is recessed pretty far back unlike OEM that sits near flush

08 navi wont work with the fuse, your nav has to be at least i believe N-04

Any way to get FUSE to work in a 2010 with Nav? The SYNC in my Ford Raptor has me spoiled with BT streaming.

Are CD's the only way of storing music on the HDD of the Nav?

It rips the audio CD to the HDD; it will play but not rip MP3 CD's though. I don't believe there are any other ways to put music on the media server.

Noob question but what is the difference? Burned CD with music = MP3 CD?
