Question on wiring near the front

While removing my bumper and crash beam I came along this little switch that I disconnected accidentally. The other end of the wire plugs into a two wire connector. I believe it was connected in the center near to the hood latch. I'm wondering if anyone knows what it is or can post a couple of pictures of their hood latch area, the wiring harness just below the latch where the radiator cover connects to the crash beam so that I can identify where this little item is located

I've looked in the wiring diagrams and can't figure out what it does or where it is supposed to go.

Here's some pictures:

This is what the switch looks like.

Here's to where it connected

This is where the hood latch pieces live and where, I believe, the switch was located, but I don't know how.

Here's a larger picture for reference.

and so am hoping someone can help me sort out what it is. Thanks.

In the third and fourth picture above you can see where I (temporarily) stuck the ambient temperature sensor. I'm pretty sure it doesn't live there (and so your help is appreciated) but needed to hang the harness somewhere for the time being.

Let me see if I can pop the cover to take some pics before I go to work. It's in the 70s here in Texas lol

^ Correct, it's the switch to tell you if the hood is popped.

THIS IS PERFECT! Thanks!

And, it's 11 degrees here...that's quite a bit less than 70...
