Unhappy Big Electrical Problems, Need help!

Hey guys, I purchased an 08 Evo X SSS with water damage in the interior. This will be my third evo that Ive owned. The car mechanically is fine besides a dying power steering pump. Now the car had some water damage the previous owner couldn't fix. Usually these cars are totaled for electrical issues like this but I was up for a challenge. So here's a list of issues all contained to the cabin.

CEL's Noted:
ASC
ABS
Brake
SRS

- Blower motor bad (tested +12v from dash harness though)
- Sirius radio ECU bad
- Occupant ECU bad under passenger seat (prob all 4 press sensors too)
- Speedo does not work, nor does ASC or switch on steering wheel.
- Fog lights don't work
- Center lights and parking lights not working
- KOS on doors and trunk wont detect key
- Passenger sub speaker dead
- Left rear passenger speaker dying

I can see evident surface rust under passenger and drivers seats along with some brackets on the dash. The amp under the driver seat works fine, seat belts retract fine. The multimeter on the dash harness checked out fine and most areas. Im planning on replacing every harness on the floor along with some slide sensors, srs sensors and some other little things. Suprised the car doesn't show any signs of mold (opened the heater core and ducts). I appreciate any advice besides getting rid of the car.

Thanks!

wow.
Consider replacing the entire wiring harness. 'One and Done' because the electrical problems will continue due to ongoing corrsion breaking down connectors and wiring.

Harsh and huge task? Yes, but really it is the only path to a reliable car (and if you do it yourself it may justify the money saved in buying this car). The interior would need to be totally stripped anyway for rust treating the pans, etc...

'How high up was the water' (high water mark)? Your next step will be the mechanical maintenance to regain inherent reliability...

Good luck.

Im opening up the interior and tossing anything that looks corroded. Car shifts and pulls really hard so it seems like the issues are contained to the cabin, I know some harnesses are from the engine bay I may need to replace the connector themselves by the driver and passenger kickspace

Looks to me like you are tackling this challenge the right way.

Please (just for our curiosity) keep a log of hours and parts required (versus money saved from buying a comparable year/model car).

My nephew was hot to buy a E90 BMW M3 from the Island 'real cheap' and i talked him out of it...

'Was it good advice?'

Thanks!

Yeah its not bad for me, I work on commercial heating systems during the winter which are 90% electrical errors. The best thing to do is replace anything with any corrosion, trace it before the connectors too. Some connectors for the seats I used Deoxit D-Series 100% on the airbag connectors(not tripped). Ill just cross my fingers when i plug everything back in. The only problem im having at this point is getting my hands on the ecu and sensors for the passenger and drivers seats. Ive asked people with deployed and damaged seats they wont part these items from the sale such bs

Connectors are for the ease of assembly - why not cut and splice each out that you can?
