Keeping bluetooth & removing radio
Keeping bluetooth & removing radio
Is this possible? I've got a 2010 SE model with the bluetooth and i'm getting rid of the radio in favor of a tablet indash.
My question is if the bluetooth unit interfaces any of its functionality (beyond display) on the radio. I'd like to be able to retain it if at all possible. If not, is there anyway i could make it work with my tablet??? Can you setup a tablet to accept cell calls via bluetooth built into the tab???? I couldn't find anything on that when i searched for it.

obviously you're taking it to have it custom installed.. Your installer can make something work. There are a lot of stand alone bt modules but w/ something like this my money is on you not being able to retain the oem bt
If you have the RF system there's a chance you might be able to keep the stock BT system; frankly it's something I've wondered about myself. I'd recommend disconnecting the head unit and seeing if the BT system interacts directly with the amplifier, or if it it orchestrated by the head unit.
Do let us know. Otherwise whatever head system the installer uses to interface the table with the vehicle will need to take on the BT responsibilities, and you'll use the aftermarket steering wheel interface to get it to interact with the buttons (and you'll unplug the stock BT module).

Using this to maintain steeringwheel controls on tablet - http://www.rcjoycon.com/base_3/menu_...m_board_idx=14
On second thought, oem BT may not work. It has to output some sort of signal (i'm assuming analog) into the head unit which the head unit amplifies and sends to the speakers. IF i can isolate this analog signal, i would have to have it input into the amp or the EQ i'm using inbetween the tablet and amp. I have multiple inputs on the EQ, but i have to manually switch between the two inputs.
Long story short, it may be easier to have my tablet take calls from my phone. Anyone know how to setup a tablet to do that???
And secondly, who wants to buy an OEM bluetooth setup???
