Dash lights dim when headlights turn on

Hey gents, just recently bought an X. It had a "Duralast" battery in it (one that vents to the atmosphere) so i bought an Optima Red Top. With the Duralast, whenever I turned the light switch (even to parking lights) the dash lights dim and the idle decreases (just slightly). So I figured the Red Top would solve that, but I was wrong. Does everyones X do this? Or is this actually an issue?

My dash lights dim whenever I turn on the headlights. Should be normal. You should be able to adjust the brightness with the small button by the dash. I still have oem battery.

Most modern cars do this, it's normal. When you turn on your lights, it's usually because it's night time. The instrument lights dim to reduce the brightness difference between looking at the road and down at the instruments. As styles mentioned, you can adjust the brightness with the button on the lower right side of the cluster.
