Post how to: use stock tweeter housing for upgraded tweeters

I did a video on YouTube on this. Thought I'd give back to the forum after everything it has done to help me.

Hope this helps you all on your speaker upgrades!!

P.s. the superglue I used melted after the tweeters got hot, so I bought that spray on adhesive and it worked a lot better!

Interesting way of reusing the stock housing. So you are using the stock wiring? What kind of of power are you running to the tweeter? Is it direct from the HU or is it coming from an amp? Just interested in how you are protecting the tweeter given you have removed the filter.

I decided to use the stock housing as we'll but approached the solution a little differently as I ran new wiring to the door and I am running the crossover in the door panel. Rather than use the stock mounts within the tweeter pod, I ground out all of the plastic moulds then used fibrous foam that can release heat from the driver but support the tweeter in the pod, so far they have been running perfectly with up to 125w thrown at them.

I am using stock wiring since my Amplifier has built-in crossovers. I too used the fibrous foam you're talking about, since the superglue just melted from the heat of the tweeters.

but the tweeters are working amazingly, The filter is built into the tweeters, so I didnt have to worry about it.

Infinity Kappa PR6500cs. Its a speaker and tweeter kit, I used those with the crossovers included. And it works out amazingly
