2012 Backup camera options

Hello,

I've been trying to figure this out for a while. I have a 2012 GSR with SSS (volume/phone/voice controls on the steering wheel) non-navigation. My windows are heavily tinted and my taillights are custom, which makes it very hard to see at night while backing up. I'd like to install a backup camera before I backup into something that I don't see, but I am coming to the following roadblocks:

(1) I don't want to install a different rear view mirror (I'd prefer that the backup camera is integrated to the head unit).
(2) I don't want to lose the controls on my steering wheel.
(3) I don't want to pay $2k for an OEM nav unit & bezel.

Do you have any suggestions? I don't mind getting an aftermarket head unit if I can keep my controls...

Get a 2014+ touchscreen radio, bezel, and an aftermarket camera?

Wow! I didn't realize they were that cheap, nor did this option occur to me. Thank you.

Question - is there a difference between the non-Fosgate and Fosgate units?

Bump - Just found out that not all 2014+ touchscreen radios are "Rockford Fosgate" friendly. Is there a specific part number that I should be looking for? How do I tell the difference between the RF supported an non-RF supported units?

You can always ask the seller. The RF compatible head units will have an extra harness with them as compared to the non-RF ones. (You can usually see this in the pictures). If I'm not mistaken, the RF hardness has a module on it; the past two that I've purchased (Android OS) for my Lancer and Evo had a red RF module on it.

You can go aftermarket with a good pioneer avic unit that has Bluetooth, navigation and CarPlay for a good price and keep the steering controls. My setup is this:
Scoshe dash kit $40
Pioneer 5100avic 580
Pioneer camera 80
Pac swirc 100
Metra harness 10

Got all on Amazon. Great setup for under a grand. Lots of threads for install or plan on paying a shop about 2-400 for install.
