Difference Between Headlight Housings

I currently own a 2011 ralliart with the projector headlight + housings, but I am wanting to switch them out to get a different look. I still want to stick with projectors, but most of the ones that I am interested in claim to only fit in the vehicles that don't come with the projectors stock.

I'm wondering if any of you know if they do infact fit, as it seems fairly stupid to me for mitsubishi to make a complete headlight assembly for both xenon and halogen lights but not make them compatible with each other. I assume the only thing that would be conflicting would be the plugs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm sick and tired of my stock headlights with non-LED's....

You want to keep projector headlights, but you want a different look? So are you saying you want the housing to be configured differently inside, because that's probably not going to happen.

I assume you're looking at LED/HID-conversion kits, which are specifically designed for non-HID headlights.

Since you have projector housings, I'm assuming you already have HID lights, in which case there are plenty of vendors that sell an LED to swap out in place of your HID light and should be pretty simple swap.

To answer your question, the reflector (halogen) vs. projector (HID) housings should be completely identical when it comes to mounting, but would have different configurations inside the headlight.

Alright, but would the connectors for the lights differ between the hid projectors and the regular halogen Headlights on the actual vehicle? I'm wanting to totally swap out my headlights entirely, with a new housing and everything, but I'm not entirely sure that they will wire up to my car. It sounds like the halogen equipped lancers have a different connector(s) than the projectors and I don't want to purchase a headlight that won't wire up to my vehicle.

The only question if they do fit is if you have OEM Xenon or halogen bulb. It will come down to bulb socket and electrical connection. The headlight housing, whether built for Xenon and halogen, are the same.

You said you currently have projectors in your headlight and the headlights you are looking at are built for cars without projectors (halogen bulbs). So by that I am assuming you have stock OEM Xenons?

Ok cool. Yes the socket is differnt between the Xenon and the halogens. Halogens being a 9006 and the Xenons being a D2S. They are two complete diffent systems.

It will be a little hard to find an aftermarket setup for the OEM Xenon as you have already found that out. Also if you did chances are the light output would not be that good as in clarity and wideness.

Google "Evo X retrofit" and check the images, you will see what will need to be done to do this. Its not difficult to do just takes some time and patients. There is also a couple people on here that can do it for you and it comes out pretty nice.
