Question T3 vs T4 1.06 twinscroll housings, any power/response difference?

Hello,

My Friend is looking to get a HTA3582R Twinscroll 1.06 turbo in T3 form.
This way he can then switch out to a smaller T3 turbo (3082, 3076) if he wants to for comparison testing etc.

Will the T3 version of the 1.06 housing causing any restriction or power loss compared to the T4 version of the 1.06 housing for the same turbo? (3582).

The 3582 will be the largest turbo he will use on the car, as it will be used for autocross etc. But obviously wants to get the most out of it etc. It's my understanding that if he goes T4 housing, then the 3582 will be the smallest turbo he could use, as they dont make T4 housings for the GT30 series turbo's.

Any help/info would be great.

Cheers, Mike

bump for ideas/opinions please, Ted B you've built/tuned both T3 and T4 models of the HTA3582?

A 1.06 T4 housing (if they made one)would be terrible on a 4 cyl. I would use a .58 for a T4 back housing or the next size up from that at the most

The last two posts are completely misinformed or have zero technical merit, in that order.

I'm very interested in this question as well. I'm very curious how much difference is size there is. The GT T3 housing isn't much smaller then a T4 and I'm curious if these new T3 divided housings are similar in size to the GT stuff.

More interested in hearing the opinions of those who work with these housings daily and are in the business of building and testing these housings in the development of their company's turbo kits.

It would be nice if it came from a company that didn't have a vested interest in showing one superior over the other...

I strongly encourage that you guys stick with the T4 twinscroll footprint. the T4 bolt pattern is the standard for twinscroll turbochargers, and going forwards there are going to be some VERY attractive, and very impressive units coming out, all of which will be twinscroll T4 based, and work efficiently on turbochargers as small as 3071R for the autocross enthusiasts.

sorry i cant give any details at this time, but some very exciting things are in store for us in 2010!
