Do you need to get the Evo X tuned anytime you change something, like intake or exhaust? If not, how much can you do before having to tune it?

you can add a full exhaust and even an intake. once you do a boost controller, you may get a SES light in 5th gear, or maybe even in 3rd or 4th.

Theres a factory reflash you might need as well. Theres a TSB out for it. It improves the idle and adds a little power to the car

but yea getting the car tuned would do the most for it

the evo ecu is smart. but the tune is necessary if you do a bigger change .
drop in or cat back is fine without tune. But the TBE and the whole intake set up like :
induction pipe with cone filter , needs tune to run a car safely.
Just because the car run that doesn't mean is good.
You can have serious lean conditions, boost cut etc.

My advise get the parts what you want to install, and when you have all of them, then install it and go to the tuner to tune it.
You will find out the patience is alway beneficial in the long run.
