Yea, I understand what open source is, I just don't get why it would favor those with an EcuTeK. Obviously, that would be the cheapest route, but it doesn't exist yet.

It seems like if you already have an AP, there would be no need to go the open source route when it comes out because it can do all that stuff already.

However, I can see the advantage over an EcuTeK because it would allow you to create multiple tunes, and tweak things yourself if necessary... but the AP already allows those things.

Maybe I'm just missing something, I don't know...

The cobb access port will sell for 700 bucks with base maps that many say aren't that great. If you want a tune then you must pay a shop that has the software to tune on top of the price of the access port. If you want to tune it yourself, then expect to pay for their software to do so.

In the end, to be able to tune a car with the access port yourself, you are looking at 900 to 1000 bucks. I am not saying it isn't a good product but it all depends on what you are looking for.

Perrin also tunes with AccessPort and you can buy it directly from them. There maps on here look pretty promising with the Unichip device. Adam said they would be gettting the AP when it came out for the X. They already have it for the 08 STI. From what I understand Perrin has really good customer service.

It seems I'm the only one who thinks it's crazy to pay 300-400 buck for a license of something that you can't tune yourself ? The hell with ecutek, i would have to be very desperate to pay that much with Colby knocking on the evo X door, sorry i'll wait
