Thumbs up Buschur Has Turned My X Into a EVO!!!!

I have seen it posted over & over again "the X will never be in the same relm as the 8's & 9's....ect", for the most part I found this to be true until today at 6:30pm when I installed my freshly re-flashed ECU from Buschur. Before I git into it let me give you the run down on my X before the re-flash, I was running the AGP Intercooler, Hard Pipes (Upper & Lower), AGP CAI & Buschur cat back exhaust. These mods alone made my X rev a little more freely & gave a slight power boost but still wasn't as EVO'ish as I would had preferred . After receiving & installing the mailed in re-flashed ECU I can honestly say Buschure found were Mitsubishi was hiding the X's ***** which were held captive in the stock ECU.

The Driving Experience

When I first cranked my X I could tell right away something was different, it seemed to have a slightly raspier tone which I liked. The idle was good no surging or high idle it stayed around 900rpm which is normal for my X, when I first took it out on the street & was cruising at lower speeds & RPM's it felt much like it was before nothing to crazy but when I planted my foot on the floor the RPM gauge began to rise more quickly than before then it hit 3500rpm WHOOOOOOSH pulled incredibly hard all the way to 7500rpm with only a small boost drop at 5500rpm, I felt like I was back in my friends modded 8 from how I was pushed bank in the seat which was VERY NICE It drives great with no issues to speak of everything still works as it did before & gas mileage appears to have stayed the same but do to the added power I'll probably change that real fast. I drove down a stretch of road that's kinda off the beaten path & great place to do some acceleration testing, a quick drop of the clutch & I was off, the side marker where I would normally be doing 90mph I was now doing 115mph .

I must admit I was a little nervous about a "mail in tune", but I guess Big Al knows what he's doing. I sent the ECU out on Monday & received it back today, the ECU is very easy to remove & install. It's located in front of the break master cylinder under the hood & takes about five minutes to remove so no big deal there. Over all it was a very painless experience that I would highly recommend.

I would like to thank Big Al & the guys from Buschur for doing there magic to turn my X into a real EVO

Probably becuase you have a great looking Evo X.

Thanks to the Op for taking time to share your experience.

I am very excited with the Ecutek product and what Buschur and I have created on the dyno. Its great to have your feed back. The X is a car which responds to a good tune better than any other turbo car I have worked with.

Enjoy !

I have been going back and forth about going to get a custom tune or do the mail in flash. I dont have alot of free time and a custom flash would be a whole day thing for me, but hearing stuff like this makes me feel that a mail in flash would do the job. What are you doing for boost control and what boost are you running?

My thoughts exactly.

It seems the Evo X also responds well to a set of coil overs and some wide wheels apperance wise.

I had the pleasure to drive the car in the avitar and it was shocking how well it handled with a little love from Robi Spec and some Buschur Stage III. There is no dount that the X when properly modfied has a much more advanced chassis which outs it squarely into a super car catagory.

The old Evos and even the Imprezza STI's origins with such cheapo econo box bodies also felt like really fast tin cans even when you modified the heck out of them. The X has a more substantial and rigid feel which is a big improvement for the feel and the handling.

The boost level was adjusted with in the ECU by Buschur, which in my option is the way to go as many people with MBC's are haveing issues with limp mode & other cells being thrown.

Sorry about that didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, I saw those photos on your other post & was very impressed with the photo quality. I usably toy around with my avatar photo from time to time never keeping the same photo for to long it just so happened I was using a photo of your car when I made this post & as you can see now it's something we can all enjoy .

the mail in soultion is ideal for lightly modified cars with stick turbo, injectors and not running alcohol. Once you get into more heavy modifications a full custom tube becomes mandatory.

With this said, Stage 1 - 3 cars with (bpu) e.g. intake and exhaust, etc. a mail in reflash is an excelent choice.

We have a lot of experience with setting up and testing mail in tuning
roms and I feel my extensive past experience at doing this gives me the upper hand in having the "touch" to make a good, smooth and safe mail in tune up

There is an art to getting a remote tune right and I have a lot of experience and success in setting up these tunes for the Buschur parts.

I just keep getting more inmpressed with these mail in flashes. You guys are definitely tempting to the dark side. Congrats xcellr-8 im envious!!!!

I also want to thank Al for taking time and answering my questions on the phone it was very informative. I appreciate the good customer service.

Al do you have a dynochart on here posted of the mail-in flash alone? Ive seen the one with the buschur exhaust, but not just a stock car.
