Boost spike?!
Boost spike?!
so im driving home today and decided to stomp it a little. i was doing 50-55mph(on the freeway) and stomp it on 4th gear and the needle on my boost gauge shot up to almost 30psi?!?! then went down. i have the Works tune and they max it out to 21psi. so why the spike? and is it normal? leak? what to look for?

What are you using to control boost ?
pretty sure the ecu. i dont have a boost control. works said i didnt need one. dont get me wrong sometimes it will limit boost to the set 21 psi, im just wondering why i shot up.
unless you have a mechanical issue it will be tune related . Trying looking at all the boost lines first and if you do not see anything contact your tuner . If nothing is wrong and it never does that again it could be one of those crazy things that happens . Now if this happens again a few times without anything mechanical affecting it then its a tunning issue . But try the simple things first and see what you can catch with your eyes ....
It might have something to do with the boost lines that come with the P2 flash from works. I know it uses modified pills that from other research I've done can cause spiking issues sometimes. Let us know what you find out. Good luck.
I got a 30 PSI boost at part throttle when I hooked up the electronics on my dual boost controller. It gave me a ! on the dash and service ACS soon message with the traction loss picture but next startup cycle it was fine again and reset itself.
Apparently the ball and spring bound up somehow from lack of use so I had to hose it down with PB blaster and forced some anti-sieze in there and now it seems to work fine again. Now I know why they are starting to use ceramic ***** in MBC's!
Like others have mentioned, check over your hoses as somehow the wastgate signal was not reaching the Internal wastgate actuator on the turbo. Check to make sure boost lines aren't being crimped between something, or verify there are no leaks or loose lines. It's also possible that if a boost pill is kicked sideways that it won't let air through at all depending on the angle of the hose. If you have modded your Wastgate actuator adjustment, make sure it isn't binding up somehow either. If no physical issues can be seen then something is out of wack in your boost solenoid duty cycles with the ECU programming.

On the stock line it was just before the T in the line leading out of the turbo outlet nipple. There was a spiring clip over it on the outside to make sure it stayed in the proper position as well, and the stock lines will be bulged out a bit at that point if you move that clip off that part.
