COBB tuning
Yes, for $695.00 you can buy a laptop and do it with EcuFlash
It has gotten MUCH better (and more competitive) over the years, mainly because of EcuFlash. But seriously, if you already have a laptop, buy a 50 dollar cable and do it yourself on a nice piece of software.

The accessport would be awesome to have, but it isn't going to be out for awhile from what I hear. It is a good piece of equipment for amateurs and people who can tune. Because you can plug it in and download maps offliine or set it up yourself. Plus be able to go back to stock if needed.

I have been working with Cobb for many years on Subarus and know that they always put in the time up front to make a world class and fully tested product before it is released.
While they were slow on releasing the Evo 8 AP product - now that it is out it offers features and functions which no other tool has - including live tuning, etc.
The Cobb name is only held high becuase they have a ton of great products and years of huge success with the Subaru AP which was and remains and revolutionary product.

it was explained to me that why there may be a demand for it in the Evo X, the GT-R is a more expensive car and the owners have the money to purchase the products at the price cobb sells them for instead Evo owners, who I am one of them are cheap to an extent and are alway slooking for a "good deal" and don't want to pay for the R&D. That how it was explained to me anyways, there is more money to make of the GTR for now.
perhaps they are having more issues with the mitsu over the GTR?
its silly to think a vendor/tuner would with hold a product (without reason) to upkeep a name...
in the end its about $$$$ you cant make money not selling a product. it will be out when they feel its ready for release im sure.
and is it the best form of Tuning... likely not. but it seems that downloading tunes and uploading them into the AP and then loading them into your car.
I have used this on a saab (the wrx wagon re badged) and it was awesome very easy to use and allowed for transition of multiple tunes IRT.
I had a tune for economy and for ***** to the walls (kinda lol)

I know what your saying financially it wouldn't seem to make sense, but if you consider they had one of the first GTR's in the states they will have the parts before anyone else and offer one of the only tuning programs. Where as the
Evo x was on the market and a bunch of companies started to make parts for it. Plus look an what we will be able to tune the EVo with, Ecutek, TTPs Z-chip eventually, JESTR CHip, Open ECU, and then the AP. So I think it boils down to supply and demand. The more demand for a product with less supply means you can charge whatever you want. But when the supply is up, evo for instance, the demand is less and the price is dropped. Which we have seen a couple time between mail in flashes from a few other companies. The point is they have decided to dedicate there resources to the GTR and STi and not the evo x. They may be missing out on money, but it's their company.

Not shooting the messanger here but this logic makes no sense financially. While it is true one could charge more $$ for a tune on a ~$80-100K car than on ~$40K car, the downside is there are much fewer GTR's to sell same than there are EVO X. I think that there will only be a total of 1500 GTR's entering the US in 08. Sport Compact displayed one, perhaps the only domestic model, in there next to last issue. At ~350 EVO X/month there are ~2800 currently owned in the US. So clearly the potentia GTR owners that want a tune will be very, very small relative to EVO X owners. In addition, breaking into the Nissan's ECU will take more of an effort than breaking into Fort Knox. According to others, Nissan has taken extra efforts to prevent tuners from cracking into the ECU. So I am confused with Cobbs rational unless they just wanted the car for themselves because this decision to focus on tunign the GTR rather than other more open access ECU's has me completely baffled!

I think COBB may have missed the boat on the EVO X already. It seems that a lot of people on this forum already has had some ECU tuning and are very happy with the results. I don't think these people will pay for a different ECU tune again. I have faith and am still holding out for the Accessport. I loved mine on my STI. The Accessport is a great product and very versatile to boot.
