EcuTek and Z chip compared on the same dyno
I'm closing this thread for two reasons:
1) Its never going to happen.
2) I'm tired of getting reported posts.
IMO this is a great post. Dyno wars are pointless, because you have two tuners who would just push a car to the bleeding edge. A shelf tune should never be compared to a custom tune.
This is true as well. The requirements to make this happen are high, and I don't think you would see a clear victor.
Wanna compare tunes? Drag race them.
Since TTP is not interested in this dyno comparo, its not going to happen. They'd need to offer a custom tune. I don't think its fair to compare a TTP shelf tune to a custom reflashed car as I don't think its fair to compare a shelf tuned reflash to a custom tuned Zchip car.
On topic, buy what is right for you! The overall power should be fairly close. The only differences in tunability AFAIK is Mivec controllability and rev limiter movement were not available in the Zchip.
One thing I do want to address is this senseless prodding about "voiding warranty". There has NEVER been a documented case of an Evo warranty being voided on this website due to the checksum being changed in the ECU. People that tout this will be warned and then infracted if they persist. Its 100% untrue and I'm sick of it. Any car that is modded risks driveline warranty voiding if caught. Use your brain; there are Mitsu employees that browse this site.
I've used reflashes and piggybacks both with great results. Find a tuner you trust and work with him/her.
If you want to call out a Zchip or reflashed car, do it at the track. There is more to a fast car than just peak dyno numbers.
