Please don't argue.

I'm going to pull my car from the dealer tomorrow and give ECUFlash another shot. I got a newer version to try.
Going to try disconnecting the battery and see if the ecu will "hardboot" since i was just told the EVO X ecu is very hard to brick. Since their is a self protection feature that prevents overwriting the boot loader on the ecu.

Next thing I will try is unplugging the fans and putting a jumper pack on it as it seems to be a common problem of not being able to communicate with the ecu if the voltage isn't high enough. Its possible that the fans were drawing enough amps to lower the voltage enough so it couldn't read or write to the ecu.

Great ideas !

I wish you the best fo luck - try using a jumper box or jumper cables when you try to flash it.

I had a really bad stomach ache so instead of poo'ing in my pants so to say. I ran off to the bathroom. Now it seems that it would have been a better idea to soil my self.

When I got back to my car the screen was blank (probably went to sleep) and moving the mouse for a bit it came back and the status bar was stuck at 50% and then ECUFlash program crashed/closed. So I wasn't able to save a log of what happened.

I am freaking out since i couldn't get the car started again or reconnect to the ECU using the program.

When I tried to reconnect it would display in the log

Kernel Get Version and then disconnect or it would just hang.

I ended up towing the car to the dealer and they couldn't get a flash onto the ecu or connect.

They are telling me I need a new ECU. Did I brick my EVO X Ecu or does anyone have a way of saving it?

I was using ECUFlash 1.41.2294
It is unlikely that you have bricked the ECU. IF you end up SOL with ECUFlash you may want to try one of two options:

1) Try contacting WORKS - Steve and Pete are extremely knowledgable and may be able to help you recover the ECU - I am almost certain that Steve can. They frequent SoCal and may also be able to help you mail order (they can do Re-flash mail in - talk to them).

2) The cost quoted to you by the dealer of $1300 seems on the high side. I have seen costs as low as $950 or so for an ECU. Try MitsubishiParts.net

Good Luck. S**t happens. Get over it and solve the problem!

To the OP, have you contacted RRE at all? Give Mike a call, he might be able to help you out or offer suggestions. He might give you some crap at first but just go with it.

Why close the thread????? Just cleanup the thread and allow the OP to continue his search for a solution to his rather serious problem.

Yea there was a bit of OT stuff going on but its all gone now.

I tried to pull my car out of the dealer today. But they told me they already ordered the ecu and its on his way.

I will still try to fix my old ecu after I get everything back so I'll keep everyone updated. Since if the old ecu can be fixed, that might be some good info for the ECUFlash community.

Guess if i have it fixed i'll have a spare ecu.

Yah...

You should not be held liable to purchase that ECU if they didn't consult you and confirm you wanted it ordered.

If they ordered it with out your consent, sounds like they are going to warranty it.

How long until you get your new ECU? Couldn't they return it for maybe a re-stocking fee? That's a ton of money to pay when you might be able to fix the old ECU.

There is no fixing his ECU. A friends did the same thing the first flash with ecuflash. Since then no issues though flashed it 60 times by now
