If the laptop went to sleep while flashing, that's why there's a problem. It has nothing to do with the software being in beta. That's my guess anyway.

My 2 cents delivered.

I wish you the best of luck.

I've never lost a ecu ever to ecuflash and I've flashed hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds.
Same here, but on the Evo 8/9. Sometimes I had a flash interrupted. I simply flash it again and the car starts like a champ.

Sometimes I wonder if threads like this are started to scare people away from open source programs and to promote vendor software. Probably not the case, but it was the first thing that ran through my mind.

When ECUFlash comes out I'm sure there will some failures and there will many successes. This became a failure becuase it's a beta program, a computer that went into sleep mode, and non-recovery mode. I believe this is just a heads up for those who have this leaked version. When this becomes public I bet it will be popular for those looking to tune them selves. I'm just scared new people will come into tuning with out the proper tools (wideband and data logger), over tune and blow an engine. I'm all set and ready to do. Hopefully these new people will be too before trying to flash.

What chips are used in the ECU? Depending on the type, I can build a writer to rewrite even a bricked one.

The communication protocol and flash method for Evo 10s is much different than the 8/9. At this point in time, it takes a bit more work to recover from a bad flash with a 10.

Not the case in this instance.

Got my car back from the dealer today with a new ecu and everything is working again, Thanks for everyone's offer of help and support.

If I have time this weekend I'll plug my old ecu in and make some attempts at fixing it. And keep everyone updated as to what happens. From what I've gathered from everyone's information I'm sure its fixable, just don't know when that is going to be able to happen.

RicerX1,

Just wanted to say that you've been a champ about staying real neutral and trying to constructively solve your problem - big props considering how many people were giving the "you shouldn't have..." speech on this thread

If you get it fixed, it would be great if it was sent to the developer of Evoscan, if he hasn't gotten a hold of a X ECU yet.

Well first I'm going to send the ECU to the developer of ECUFlash. To see if he can fix it.

When I get it back and if its in working condition after Colby takes a look at it. I wouldn't mind loaning it to the EVOScan developer. But the latter we'll just have to wait and see.

Not sure if it was posted or not but I have found you have to keep hitting the File button to keep the flash going. Every time the % bar stops for more then 10sec I will just click the File button in the upper left and it starts going again. May just be a strange bug with the version I have.
