Question Upgraded Internal Wastegate Actuator: EVO X - Gain 40whp?

HKS Upgraded Internal Wastegate Actuator: EVO X

Product Description
Sick and Tired of boost falling off in your EVO X?

We have an easy solution!

The new HKS actuator will eliminate boost fading. The HKS wastegate utilizes larger internal diaphragms than the original equipment actuators allowing quicker turbocharger spool up and boost stability.

Fits: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X 2008+ (MR, GSR)

Price: $217.95

Can someone please explain me what exactly is this and is it really worth it?!
Also is it hard to install ?
Who already installed it on EVO 10?

So the forge one is a bit less price wise than the hks - which one do yall suggest? They both claim same results, and both companies make pretty good product.

Unless they are counting going from stock boost of 22 psi @ 5500 RPM's to 26 psi I don't see you gaining 40 whp. Basically it allows you to hold the boost until 5500 RPM's much better than stock so midrange power is quite a bit beter than just an MBC and stock actuator combo. 5500-7500 you will taper boost just like before due to the stock turbo running out of flow.

I still think the Forge WGA was a good upgrade and with my new turbo it will really shine, but don't expect peak HP numbers to change since the boost made at 6500 RPM's will be very similar.

Just get a tune and it will solve your problems with boost tapering off so bad at redline as well as improve your power through the whole power band through changing MIVEC settings and you'lle get better mpg!

I have the Forge WGA and I love it. I spike 25psi and hold 24psi in 4th gear.

the point of getting an uprated wga is to reach peak boost sooner, is it not? minimizing taper is just another part of the tuning process. a tune won't help you reach peak boost sooner as much as an uprated wga.

It's more for holding boost up top as it is stronger and does a better job keeping the wastegate flapper from being blown open more than the stock one.

I should have data with uprated WGA *and* 3port boost solenoid upgrade here very very soon.

It was really easy to install. The only thing that was difficult was setting the preload.I live on a island and it is hard to do any street tunning without getting a ticket.Just remove the two heat shields and you are good to go.Wear gloves or something because I cut my hand on one of them.
