Sigh. P1235 4 days in a row now.

Custom "stage 2" tuned with an AP at Cobb in Plano.

I put on an UICP months ago (after the tune) and I *know* I need to get retuned, but I have an LICP to go on and I want an FMIC and bigger injectors first, so I'm kind of limping around a bit. The only real issue I've had is the car throwing rear o2 sensor codes (both with a test pipe and high flow cat). Never the P1235.

But the warm weather seems to be causing me to throw this code like every day! It's mostly when I'm cruising along and hit the gas to pass someone, then pop, code thrown and the car's in soft limp mode

I can edit my tune, is there something I should turn down in ATR to keep this from happening as much?

**note** it does seem to be doing it a LOT more since I updated the firmware on the AP (I got the AP at the beginning of the year and just switched over to the latest beta firmware). Hmm... I wonder if there's something wrong in the firmware?

Well if the firmware is still in beta, it's not a final release and may have kinks in it. Can you revert to the older final release firmware?

Turn your boost down man! If you want the WGDC I'm running to adjust your boost down I can email them to you. Should solve your problems.

I put the "23psi" 91 octane map on there and then tried to cause the P1235. I didn't get the P1235, but it spiked to 27+psi. The UICP definitely causes the boost to spike.

why don't you just go back to the stock map until you get the rest of your stuff and can get another tune?

Do you have access to your Air Flow Check Tables in the software you are using? I'm sorry, I don't know a whole lot about AP...

the AP tuning calls tables by slightly different names, but there are "Air Flow Limits" and "TQ Limiting Maps" tables that might be the same thing.

When do you get your code?

P1235 is the "Partial Throttle Overboost" code. Basically cruise at like 3-4k rpm and then hammer the gas (like to pass someone). Pop, then SES then 2krpm idle and 12.x afrs until you clear it.

I'm using the OTS Stage II map and have had the same problem... only once though, so... for now, I'm avoiding the half throttle pedal mash, which seems to be the culprit... I just downshift prior to hammering it, and I haven't had any problems since... not sure if your intercooler pipes are part of the problem, but, I don't have any (yet)... so, I'm also curious...

im on the stage 1 93 oct map and it did once or twice when the car was completely stock. I now have Upper and Lower intercooler pipes (for about a month) and I've thrown the code twice so far.

I'm getting a custom exhaust built (with 100 cell race cat) and the AMS downpipe, then pulling the pill and running stage 2. I was told ( by Robb @ COBB) that i could run the pipes with any of the maps but a custom tune will always be better in the end.

I definitely feel your pain goofy. I only want to get tuned twice. the first tune will be once i have ALL of the parts necessary to max out the stock turbo. Second tune will be bigger turbo with whatever supporting mods are necessary (tubular mani, etc)

OK I did some logging this morning...

pull from 3rd gear, no issue.

"pull" in 5th gear -> "Service Required" in the HUD

"pull" in 5th gear again -> surge, pop, then SES

Here's the log:
http://mpghead.com/evo/logging/datal...th%20codes.xls

So... it looks like when pulling in third, it's building boost progressively, according to my map, but in 5th, it appears to be building boost REALLY quickly. I went ahead and changed the map to lower the boost targets a bit (Coarse WGDC) so I'll see if that helps at lunch.

Its the boost spike at partial throttle in high gears, any reflash will do this without editing the proper tables.

I could tell you how to fix it in like two seconds in EcuTeK or Ecuflash, but I have no idea what the Cobb interface looks like, or what level of access the end user gets to the maps.

All that to say, I don't know how far Plano is from Frisco, but anyone with root access to all the boost maps can rectify that problem lickity split. Good luck, it really will be an easy fix, I promise.

Ya, Plano/Frisco are next to each other. My map is a custom map done at the Plano Cobb facility.

I have access to the same table that ECUFlash does, albeit with different names. For right now, I changed the WGDC, but I think I need to change the airflow check tables as well.

Those table definitions are different enough to cause me pause. My tuning programs are on my laptop at home, and I'm at work. If you are still struggling with this, hit my up with a PM this weekend and I'll do my best to help you out.
