Still, that's kind of lean when E85 likes to make power even under rich mixtures.

12.0-12.2 is pretty standard E85 AFRs (on the gas scale of course).

Talked to KevinD and rfielder (my tuners here locally). He's suggesting, and I concur, that I need to lower my scaling further (it's at 562 for 1000cc right now). This jibes with the "tuning an evo" thread.

I guess I know how I'm spending my weekend lol.

1. Choose a global setting (ECUFlash injector scaling number)
2. Log trims at idle and cruise
3. If trims are roughly the same, but positive, then you need to increase your global fueling, or in terms of ECUFlash, you need to lower your injector scaling number.
4. If both trims are roughly the same, but negative, then you need to descrease your global fueling, or in terms of ECUFlash, you need to raise your injector scaling number.
5. If idle trim is more positive than cruise trim, then you need to increase the dead time, or in terms of ECUFlash, you need to increase the latency value.
6. If the idle trim is less positive than the cruise trim, you need to decrease the deadtime, or in terms of ECUFlash, you need to decrease the latency value.

NOTE: After #5 or #6, you may need to readjust #1 accordingly.

NOTE 2: Basically, let's say that the IPW is 1ms at idle and 2ms at cruise. If you adjust the deadtime to add 100us (.1 ms), then you are affecting the idle fueling 10% and the cruise fueling 5%.

Ya I've read that multiple times, from multiple authors. Stop copy/pasting it

I moved my scaling down 20 points and it did richen me up and my ltft cruise started to get closer to 0 (5%).

I'm getting some knock I need to dial out though too.

Fun stuff this!

Anything related to injectors is annoying... and takes forever to get right.

yes. I wonder how Mitsu does it (if they have a program or something).

I've been reading about more and more people having issue with these DW injectors (I have the 1000's with the long nose). I'm wondering if there's something to this... because I'm about to 1/2 of the rated CC now (522 on 1000cc). E85 is of course causing issues, but still!

OK, I lowered it another 20 (to 522 if I remember right) and now after about 40 miles of driving (and another reset of the ECU) my cruise and idle have evened out (.97). The cruise bumps up and down fro -1% to 3% with the idle pretty static at .97%. I think I finally have that dialed in better.

Now this change has made my AFRs richer (11.0-11.9 during a pull) resulting in a slight bit less sensed load (like 10-15 points)... but leaning it back out and dialing the advance back in (I'd backed out some because of how lean it was running) I should get that back... maybe more.

Fun stuff!

Filled up for the first full tank with these changes today... most miles/gallon yet on E85. This tank was on E83 and included pulls, highway and bumper to bumper. I went 182 miles on 11 gallons. Typically I'd go about 170 on 11 gallons.

The new tank is E78, so we'll see what that does.

Sounds about right. To get 22 or over, you have to drive it gently. For a whole tank, I don't always maintain propriety of style. Usually I blow a cloud of black exhaust a few times a week. Just cause its fun.

I don't know your set-up but I got 21.3 calculating on the pen and paper when I filled up and I also do A LOT of in town driving... but I shift at 2500 or under and am very cautious and pay close attention when going up a hill to keep load off my engine. My first fuel light comes on around 250-260... not sure about my stage 2 set-up though.

Even driving very mellow like you, I find that the starts from stop ruin my overall mileage, both at fillup computed and with the trip computer.

But isn't it painful to drive that cautiously and attention to keep load OFF? I love roaring up hills and feeling the combined acceleration of the car and gravity. Not sure if your stage 2 is helping though, hard to compare since I have a fair amount of county highway time each tank. Seems like your numbers are pretty reasonable for a stock setup.

Anyone want to start a thread for how low our mileage can be? I saw 5mpg after a day at the track! I had some of the worst mileage at the event, as bad as the C6's easily.

bump: using a map that one of the guys here helped me out with I got 24.3 mpg (total trip) on the stage 2 map, this was with a stop at the bank, at McDonalds, and some in town stopping and starting. The little mileage bar stays right under 25 mpg when crusing on just the standard stage 2 AP map... most of it now was 25 or a little over. I'm very pleased with the results.
