So today I did two back to back runs in 3rd gear and saw these the knock retard values in the high rpm range, As you can see Im getting mostly 1-2 in 5-7K range on 1st run and 6-7K in 2nd run, and one spot of 3 in 7400 when I change gear. However those are not audible by ear at the dyno.

My car is tuned on the rich side from 11.2 to 11.4. I am running the HKS step colder plugs M40XL and Okada Plasma for igniton, also running 94 octane (which is really 92 oct with booster).

Are these values of concern? Do you think I should make any adjustment on my map? Experts please chime in, thanks!

 

From what I've read, 1-2 degrees of knock retard is equal to 3 to 6 counts of knock sum in evoscan logging. If it is repeatable knock of up to 6 counts, I would be concerned and try to tune it out.

Looks like the Knock Retard values are not really consistent from time to time. I went out today and did another 4 back to back pulls and surprisingly the values are all within 1s. No adjustment has been done since the first post, the only changes is the weather which is much hotter then yesterday.

Take a look at my latest logs and let me know what you think.

 

Weather can definitely have an effect. If the knock is not repeatable (ie, it occurs at same rpm/load on nearly every log), then it's probably ok as long as knock retard <= 1 (which is same as evoscan knock sum <= 3). Some of your higher knock retard values may be of concern. However, your logging speed is VERY slow with cobb ap. Try logging much fewer parameters, mainly boost, knock retard, timing, load fuel, etc, and see if you get better resolution. Ideally, you would want at least one entry every 200 rpm's.

 

Based on your datalog, I'd be very concerned with the amount of knock I see.

I have an EVO X with an FP Red, and I am freaking out about occasional 0.35, 0.70's, and a very rare 1.05.

HOWEVER, I don't think *anyone* truly has a grip on what "level" or "count" of knock is truly dangerous vs. what is acceptable and "normal". Not COBB, not tuners on this site... nobody. I think the cars still too new to have it totally nailed. However... with that said, you're experiencing quite a bit (3X) more knock than I am at 25psi, 93 octane, 10 degrees timing 6 are torque peak.
