FP RED or AP GT35R kit

Hi guys

I need some advice and opinions here. I'm currently within the fianl stages of my build my Evo X. Currently I've got the FP red installed.

I've also got the Agency Power GT35R turbo kit which I would install sometime within the next couple weeks.

Along with this, JUN is currently (or probably completed by now) my 2.3 block.

My car is not a track or race car. It's a fully functional GSR SSS model and I use it a few times during the week and for my weekly Sunday run. Point is reliability and driveability are important issues to me. However I'm trying to build the absolute best car for the road and maybe even some weekend track in the future.

The Red is so responsive and the power is great. I'm hearing that a 35 turbo will lag much more.

Can anyone give me an objective comparison between the FP Red and the Agency Power GT35R turbo kit?

Has anyone on this forum already tried the AP 35 kit?

Thanks in advance for the comments all.

Kevin

If drive-ability is concern, I would say stick with the red. Red combined with 2.3 = stock turbo spool with great top end power.

The 2.3 will spool the 35r quicker, but not as quick as the red. Not sure about the rod ratio on the JUN 2.3 but I would expect it limits the rev potential to some extent so it becomes even more important to get the power to come on early so you have a nice wide powerband and good low end torque.

The setup should be fine on a 2.3L. However, you need to take note of the heat issues from the manifold. It would be best to ceramic coat it and add extra heat insulation along the firewall to prevent the manifold from burning it down

With the 2.3L bottom end, it's almost a no brainer to go with the GT35R.

With the higher displacement, lag will not be an issue, and with proper tuning you can accomplish practically anything you want. It comes in kit form, everything is worked out for you during development and you have once source for support if you need it. It also includes all of the oil and coolant lines, so you know everything fits. We've had a lot of success with this kit and a lot of satisfied customers.

the 2.3L will definately be beneful to spooling the 35 and removing lag. but the 2.3 plus a RED would be rediculous. I am a huge fan of the RED.
