Another Bricked EVOX ECU

Yes, another bricked EVOX ECU.

2008 JDM EVO X 5 SPD
ECUID: SM5236
INTERNALID: 52360016
OPENECU VER: 1.42.2595
OPENPORT CABLE: 2 REV E Cable

Ok, so I plugged in to read the ECU. Don't have a log of this operation.
The software tried to read the ECU, requested security seed, interface closed.
Read was unsuccessful.
The engine would not start after that.
Tried to reset the ECU. Still no start. ECUFLASH can't get any response from the ECU now.
Bring out the MUT3, still no comms with the ECU (no data, no codes), no problem with CAN bus.

1) Tried the recovery mode in the car looping OBDII pins 8+12 and ticking 'alternate flash recovery' mode. This did not work.

2) Setup the ECU on the bench and using recovery mode sure enough I could then read and write to the ECU.

3) So I did a read, a re write and a reset and put the ECU back in the car. Still wouldn't start.

4) Next broke out the MUT3, which could still not talk to the ECU on the car.
Car still would not start.

The checksum from the read is: CO1E
Does anyone else have this same checksum from a standard read? (I'm wondering if this ECU had been modified before)?

HELP what are my options now??

Write back the stock ROM

Then with the MUT3 you need to program the VIN number into the ECU

Thanks for your reply.
Can't write the VIN into the ECU because the MUT3 has no communication with the ECU. It can't see it at all!

I think he's saying to redo #2. Once you have communication, write back a bone stock ROM and reinstall it in the vehicle. After that, use the MUT3 to marry the ECU back to the car by programming it with the VIN.
