Minimizing Boost Taper at high RPM: Pill or WGA ?

Dyno day @ HB Speed is just around the corner, I want to minimize the amount of boost taper at high PRM.

What is the best method to accomplish this?

Boost Pill or WGA?

Maybe HB Speed can chime in on this one, also?

Thanks!

//Mike

ps. yes I searched. and this is a 2010 GSR

An uprated WGA will help as well.

Yes, I was able to hold another 1-1.5 psi up top when I went to a 3 port. Now I can hold about 19.5-20.0 psi at 7000 rpm at 4500 ft. About 21.5-22.0 psi at sea level

lol... I'm saying if you're trying to get the most out of it get both a 3-port and an uprated WGA. I have the GM (installing it next week) and a Forge WGA.

so you are running the 3 port and an upgraded WGA?

Just a 3 port, I feel an upgraded WGA is a waste of money on the stock turbo if you already have adequate boost control.

Ummm...you can hold quite a lot of boost inter upper RPMs already if you tune right and tighten the WGA. HB Speed will know about it. And since you're going to them to get tuned, he'll also know to check the IDC to make sure you aren't running your injectors maxed out. I've notice that on some people's MRs, holding 22-24 PSI up high with some other tweaks, its not difficult to hit IDC of 95+ %...what I would consider too high for comfort.

do not use a 3-port. jon at hbspeed will hate you for it. the WGA is all you need. take it from a guy who got his car tuned there.

Just wondering what is Jon's reasoning behind this?

Im also wondering his reasoning behind this... I have upgraded to the GM 3-port, and is one of the best mods yet! You spool a lil bit quicker, and can hold more boost everywhere in the range w/ minimal duty cycle...

Maybe he only tunes w/ MBC's?

Like has been stated, you do not need an upgraded WG on the stock turbo! A couple turns on the stock 1 to tighten it up, and should be good to go. I just had my turbo ported this weekend, and had the WG tightend, and its now holding 1 psi more @ 7000(22psi w/ ~ 84%) porting helps, but I think the WG is doing most of the work. Any more than that is just taking the turbo out of its efficiency range.
