ASC Service Required c121c c1290

Hi

I have a UK Evo X Fq360 which under hard acceleration logs fault codes C121C Torque request signal rejection C1290 CAN time-out error. The amber ASC Service Required message is also displayed on the dash, but it is cleared every ignition cycle.

My engine spec is

Ultimate Racing o2 housing
Ultimate Racing decat & 3inch system
Ultimate Racing intercooler
AMS cold air intake
HKS intercooler pipes
AFI tubular manifold
HKS fuel pressure reg
Walbro 255 pump & remote filter
Deatschwerks 1000cc Fuel Injectors
FP red turbo
Peak boost 30PSI
Ecutek remap
520bhp/460lbft

The car will log this fault in every gear apart from 1st, but does not log when on rolling road. I suspect therefore that it is the G sensor logging to much acceleration on the road. Does anybody know what is needed to remove this fault code??

Cheers Les

has anyone played with the throttle maps?

IMHO ASC uses these tables to do TQ reduction when wheel spinning...

It does this when the wheels are not spinning, thottle maps are standard.

Tephra this Mitsubishi training video mentions the g sensor at 3.30 aprox

Tephra

Even with the ASC switched completely off partially & fully its logs fault codes C121C Torque request signal rejection C1290 CAN time-out error.

hrmmm......

can you obtain a log from both the dyno session and road where the incident occurs?

might be able to see some differences in loads or whatever...

Hi Tephra

The seems to be no difference in the data on the dyno & on the road. The ASC works perfectly in controling the car if cornering to hard, controling wheel spin in 1st gear etc on dry & wet roads. The engine management never logs any fault codes. It will log the C121C Torque request signal rejection C1290 CAN time-out error fault codes on a dry road when accelerating hard in 5th gear when there is no possibility of wheel spin??

My car is a UK FQ360 what is tuned when entering the UK by Mitsubishi UK.
After fitting an intake, turbo elbow, 3 inch exhaust, uprated acutuator and intercooler, occasionally in second gear (4 times in 7000 miles) it logged these faults codes (it produced 420/445 on a rolling road). Since fitting the FP RED, manifold and injectors & remap it will log these fault codes in all gears apart from 1st.

We have a prologed period of snow for about 2 weeks over here I used the car daily and although ASC was working overtime it never logged the fault codes.

I still feel it is the G sensor measuring an excess of acceleration what is over the threashold of what it expects to see what causes it to log these fault codes

Cheers Les

it wont be Gmeter if it doens't do it in 1st.... acceleration will be the highest in lower gears

you might want to pm gunzo, he has a lot of experience in this stuff too

Are your airflow/torque limiters changed from factory?

I have one customer car that triggers the ASC light on full bore accel in higher gears. This is the first Evo 10 customer I have tuned that experiences this out of literally 60+ others.

He has a stock turbo making 370 wtq on our dyno, on E85.

The only difference is that his exhaust terminates under the car behind the rear diff.

I have a couple ideas but I haven't had him come in yet to try them out.
