Map switching between E85 and 91oct

In all honsety, how safe is this to do with a Cobb AP? Assuming I have all the proper monitoring devices...

I have an appointment already set up at HB Speed for e85 conversion, but Im freakin out cause there only one station which is about a mile away from me but still Im worried.

Very easy, and im sure Jon will run over everything you will need to know to make you confident in swapping the maps. HBSpeed is a great place to get your car tuned, if I didn't live next to GST Motorsports (Bryan@GST) thats probably where I would go.

Good Luck, and keep us updated on your adventure with your new found Corn Fed Fun!!!

Jon will educate you on how to switch between maps, but just for reference, you pretty much need to drain one type of fuel before switching to another or be as close to empty as possible before filling up with one type or another. Then you just switch the maps. When tuning for E85, we will start with pump. Then, unhook the fuel return line and drain the fuel system as much as possible, then fill the car with E85.

I filled up 10 gallons of 91-octane today, the rest was my leftover E85 (It was a choice of traveling 25 miles to a station, 25 miles back to go 160 miles to the next station through skii traffic).

I had 0 knock at stop and go, dead stop takeoffs, and 5th-6th gear launches.

Switching back to a 91-octane map with some E85 shouldn't cause issues. Issues only come up when you try to use an E85 map with 91 since the 91 octane could pre-detonate leading to bad performance/dangerous conditions.

I have no problems switching back and forth with my AP!

i've read and was told something to the effect of running it really low then filling up with a bit of e85 and starting it on the 91/93 map until it runs a little funny then shut it off and flash and restart.

how does that sound? it makes sense to make sure you run most of the gas out of the lines before flashing over.

Waiting till it runs "funny" is a good idea just to make sure you are ready to inject the proper fuel, but its not too big of a deal if you car is decent at starting/running.

Who does this? Tephra is still working on altmaps, who beat him to the punch on this one?

No one, Tephra and Gunzo are kind of doing a collaboration. I think Tehpra has it figured out but is trying to make it more meth friendly. Tephra is searching for a suitable free input on the ECU as well.

Search Evo X forums for Mivec gear based switching, they have a lot of stuff in there.

Gotcha, I knew it was in the works... you implied that it was already available. I don't use meth, I am an ethanol addict... so wouldn't mind using a preliminary version that just switches via the CC switch if he is willing to release it.
