Cranking Encrichment for Evo X

Just wanted to start an on topic thread so this info was easy to find.

The Evo X, similar to the CT9A and most other cars has cranking enrichment tables.

In the Evo IX, these tables were a set value that the ECU would pulse immediately and then another set that would slowly degenerate to the normal fuel spray as you cranked the car. (see the mrfred advanced fuel control thread)

In the evo X, it appears this value is added to something to determine the pulse width:

Is there a static value these are added to, or are they simply added to the value that would normally be calculated based on your injector size, latency, etc etc?

That said, would these tables likely not need adjustment for anything other than e85?

XML:

52680015

Code:
52680015_mods.xml

<table name="Cranking Enrichment IPW Adder (Main)" address="5749a">
<table name="Coolant Temperature" address="6101e"/>
</table>

<table name="Cranking Enrichment IPW Adder (Unused)" address="56aa4">
<table name="Coolant Temperature" address="6101e"/>
</table>

evo10base.xml

  <scaling name="TimeInjCranking" units="ms" toexpr="x*0.005" frexpr="x/0.005" format="%.1f" min="0" max="500" inc="1" storagetype="uint16" endian="big"/>

  <table name="Cranking Enrichment IPW Adder (Main)" category="Fuel" type="2D" scaling="TimeInjCranking">
  <table name="Coolant Temperature" type="Y Axis" elements="9" scaling="Temp"/>
  </table>

  <table name="Cranking Enrichment IPW Adder (Unused)" category="Fuel" type="2D" scaling="TimeInjCranking">
  <table name="Coolant Temperature" type="Y Axis" elements="9" scaling="Temp"/>
  </table>

The table values are added to the latency values, thus directly
adding the table to the final IPW.

E85
&
Larger Injectors

Formula to figure this out....

New Cranking primer IPW = old IPW x [ old injector scale / new injector scale]

I must have missed the unit value. I see now that these are latency and not pulse width.

So, that said... these are simply added to your final output. I can see tuning it a little bit for e85, but considering the range of values it won't provide a ton of benefit other than the really cold areas.

I don't *think* the old formula that was used on the pulse width method will have too much effect here since we are already building that extra 30% ETOH fuel in the injector scaling into our equation... so I think all we need to add is a little bit in the cold area.

yeah when Colby gives me access to the XML repo for EcuFlash I hope to go through an update all the other romid's with this info...

Bryan is the expert on tuning fueling for E85 and cold/warm start - hope he will chime in with a little more info

Yea those tables will need to be tweaked for "cold" starts on E85, just like the Evo 8 / 9

I've seen cranking problems on E85 even here in Northern California at sea level which *maybe* gets as low as low 45F until you tweak these values.

I have the advantage in that I frequent Lake Tahoe every other week or more during the winter so I have done E85 cranking tuning that pretty much spans that spectrum of values.
