MODE 23 now car won't start

Hey guys I just enabled Mode 23 following Clipse3gt'S tutorial. Everything seemed to be working well. I flashed the ROM back to my car. Now it won't turn over it just cranks and the large check engine light keeps blinking. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! I'm freaking out right now! I tried to reflash to the original ROM but it kept saying interface closed.

Well I tried to rewrite a backup rom but it seems the ECu is locked. All the warnign lights flash from service engine, OIL, and all the other large warning graphics just keep toggling on the screen. I am unable to write or read from the ECU. I did everything by the book and didn't tuwn the car off until ecuflash said the write was successful. I really hope I didn't just destroy my car.

You bricked the ECU.

ALWAYS CHECK TO MAKE SURE BEFORE/AFTER VALUES MATCH WHAT IS IN THE DEFINITION. IF YOU DO THIS, YOU WILL NEVER BRICK A ECU.

I hate typing in all caps, it makes me feel not so good....

There's a bench diy do a search that should help you bring the ecu back up.

My rom id is 52680018 and my inherit is 52680015. I think I messed up when it came to the whole changing the hex numbers. Not sure what you mean by the before numbers . I knew i shouldn't have tried to do this. It seemed easy enough with the how to, but I guess not. I sent this ecu out to Tactrix to bench already. I dunno if anyone can send me a hex file with mode 23 already enabled once i get the ecu back. I only did it because I was in the process of setting up a carputer and wanted to use evoscan to display gauges on screen. Now I'm really bummed because I'm down a car for at least a week. Hopefully benching the ecu will bring it back. I also had a tune and am afraid I lost it all.

before/after

ie the before numbers are what where in the little box's BEFORE you changed it? they MUST match the description of the table - ie :

"IFMode 0x05 -> 0x23 #1"

So the Before number MUST be 0x05, if its not then STOP

when you enter the new number ie 0x23, you MUST enter 0x - if you dont it wont be a HEX number and will actually be interpretted differently.

HOWEVER this last point WONT cause your ECU to brick, mode23 just wont work...

Did you use the 52680015->20 XML? (or did you follow the HOWTO exactly?)

I used the correct XML and I made sure that all values matched. I'm not really sure what happened. It's strange because while I was downloading the base map to ecuflash the car was flashing all the warning lights already. I just thought that was part of the downloading process and I proceeded to edit the rom files as noted. Then after a successful upload the car kept flashing the warning messages and totally locked me out of the ECU. I'm not sure if it's because I had a previous tune on the car. Maybe the tuner locked his map?? I'm baffled at this point.

so the ROM you flashed was the one from the car?

did you make any other changes at the same time?

Flashing the warning lights, etc while reading/writing is normal.

You must have missed a Pre or Post table entry.

I was planning on logging my car for the first time this weekend. It seemed easy enough to enable mode 23, but this thread has got me paranoid now. I should probably wait for help from someone who knows what they're doing since I've never touched my ECU or messed around with ECUflash before.
