Should I sell my AP and just use the ECUtek stuff?

Can you retrieve those 600 bucks in diva tuners and dynos back? no right?
I can, at the end of two years of several maps in two different stages and constant revisions from one of the best tuners in the country take my unit and sale it in $500

Money spent: $100

Do you get it now?

Best tuner in the world or not, those tunes will never be tailored to your car. You are never getting the best performance for your mods, and you're never going to be 100% safe with those tunes if you mod beyond the very basic bolt-ons. Not to mention there are still bugs with the AP (ask bradze on the other site about his recent experiences).

You don't get it. You're paying for a perfect tune for YOUR CAR when going to a tuner. Your "tune updates" you're getting is not specific to your car. You're paying for their time to make sure your car is perfectly tuned. You can do that with the AP as well (though there are a lot fewer tuners out there that have the software).

Sure you can get base maps off of here as well... for free. So if you want to be technical, you can get your base map + cable + software, turn around and sell the cable for about $150 and only lose $10, since you get to keep the software. And oh yah, you get the keep the tune. Can't do that once you unmarry the AP.

Instead of paying 600 for the AP...use that money on 2-3 tunes on a dyno...bam, way better results and safer.
Agree 100%. LOL soon you won't be able to give an AP away, just like for the VIII and IX.

Hell if I had a X I wouldn't use one if it was given to me free. ECUFlash has a much better package and it's just gonna get better and better

Not to mention no one is going to spend 500 that is used and they can get something better for free. I think you overestimate what used ones go for. Even if I liked the AP i wouldn't pay more than 300 for it. And sure your tunes are from a reputable tuner, but they aren't for your car...so they still suck.

You can explain it all you want man, but you can't convince people who know what they are talking about. You fail to listen to anything any one says because you are an AP fanboi.
are you making bussiness with me?
$300 for my AP? i'm sorry my AP is not for sale
how should i sale such a piece of engineering?
get another guy.
lol
i think that somebody willing to spend $600 will pay $500 for something in perfect conditions. i'll do it

Thank you, another person who gets it, lol. History repeats itself, just like with the 8/9's you won't be able to give it away like you said.

I have never once said you can't tune with it well, it just isn't worth the 600 bucks.

My tuner actually offered a free tune if I bought the AP to see if it was any better than ECUflash and I told him absolutely not, lol.

It's about trying to educate new owners on the better product so they do things right the first time

Correct and don't have to look stupid trying to defend an overpriced product.

Overpriced?
Buddy you should take a look what the Dodge and Ford guys pay for Diablo Sport predator.
An ugly 1' long "tuner" device to tune a couple of bull****s. No software, no maps.
AP I think the price is right for the amount of power that I get and support from Cobb for years.

Mellon did my first tune on an AP... and I was the first one he tuned using it. He did a great job and I like knowing that if I decided to sell all my mods if I ran into money problems that I could go and put that same tune right back on my car in 30 seconds or less. The base maps have to be as Chris said "cookie cutter tunes" because each car is different, we know this.

Thanks for hijacking my thread with all this nonsense by the way, but I am asking if ecuflash will be a good idea for ME, because I MYSELF am planning on going no further as far as speed mods go. At this particular time I pay nothing for my tunes anyway because I have friends that have helped me and done a very good job, so if I can now sell my AP which I can get a decent amount of money for, and use it to put back either on my car, or into savings or whatever, have it tuned one more time and not have to put a laptop or anything else back in the car unless I want to log something or there is a problem.

I'm not interested in tuning it myself, i'm about to start building a house and have no time for that. I had some money from some side jobs I that is what I use for the car.

As far as the comments made about the IC, I just drove home, down the highway, in the shade it was 93 degrees here... it was 100 earlier. We ALL know a car runs better when it's cool and while I am no expert, if I can get more air into the system it will be cooler and the car will run better.

Mellon made 338 whp here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...93-octane.html Aside from having the LICP which does pretty much nothing for the X anyway I have the same mods along with a grimmspeed 3 port, and a Perrin recirc bov. I would say I could expect at least those numbers, or pretty close to it and if that IC is going to add another 22 whp UNTUNED with all of the other mods then I would say it was worth it. I think I have made my decision... I would appreciate if all the bickering would stop now, as it's getting all of us nowhere. One will believe one way, one will believe another and that's just that.

I'm sorry but did you say I hijacked your thread and not the guys that don't know wth they are talking about but just trying to justify spending 600 bucks?

You asked us if you should sell your AP and go to ECUflash, and we responded to that already....everyone worth their salt said do it.
