New AP, idle question

Just installed a Cobb AP today, and the first thing I noticed is that with the A/C on (it was like 96 degrees here today), every time I'd come to a stop, the car would be pushing a bit more than normal. I started noticing that it's only when the A/C compressor clutch is engaged, and the RPMs go up to ~14-1500 when stopped. It only does this when it's in gear (D). When in Neutral, it's normal. It does this on the stage 1, and stock maps. The only way I could get it to act normally was by uninstalling the AP completely. Anyone know why this is?

Taking the car on a long road trip tomorrow, so I'm hoping the AP will come in handy. Especially in Vegas with those horrible valet drivers, lol. So far, I can see why some people don't feel the AP is worth the $600 (previously $700) price tag. We'll see how it goes.

Sorry man, Cobb has had this bug for a good 2 months now (maybe longer). The 1.06 map is junk for the MR. You either need a 1.05 map or email Cobb and they will send you a 1.07 map.

There are actually like 14 idle tables in the Evo X, and Cobb only lets you have access to 2 of them. Unfortunately the car actually uses them all. I have no idea why Cobb has not fixed this, since they have all of the Idle tables available to them.

funny, the exact same thing happened to me, I got my AP yesterday. I uninstalled it because sitting in the taoc bell drive through at 1500 rpm just irritates me.

Mine was also hesitating to slip the clutches and creep forward...you get any of that?

N118GT, if yours is a USDM Evo (and I assume it is with your location being in florida), you can download the 1.05 map and your car will run fine.

I can find you the map you need, just tell me exactly which one you are running now.

There's your problem. Email COBB for 1.07 Maps or use the 1.05 one.

Yup, exactly that. I'd let up on the brake and the car would not move. It would then push too much when I'd come to a stop. Very inconsistent. Almost as if Cobb did no testing at all. If you put the car in neutral, it acts normal.

Just got back from my trip. Had it flashed the whole way out (Denver to Los Angeles), and had it stock on the way back. Which is better? Stock. I'm not happy with the AP. Not at all. Even at sea level, I couldn't really feel that much of a difference between stock and stage 1. There's a MUCH larger difference from the altitude difference by itself. I got better gas mileage with the stock map than I did when it was flashed. The valet mode was perfect for Vegas Valet drivers, and enough that you could drive around in valet mode between casinos and not worry too much.

I'm either going to return the AP or just sell it. Big thumbs down. If anyone wants to buy it from me, $550 shipped.

You might try the 1.04 map. I just downloaded and flashed the 1.04 and am happy to report that the idle and clutch issues are gone, everything works as it should.

I also thought there was a significant improvement with performance with the OTS maps.

Also e-mailed COBB and got the 1.07 maps, but i'll hold on that because I don't want to beta test their maps. Supposedly there was also a loss in performance from 1.04/1.05 to 1.06.

Not interested in doing any more experimenting. AP is already in the box and ready for return.

I even flashed the car again before packing it up, just to give it one last chance. I don't feel $600 in my ***, but I do feel like my *** was taken for $600.

Webman,

We regret that we could not keep your business. We are working on a fix for this issue as it is not a map or tuning issue per se, but was a bug in the software. That said, if you email calibration@cobbtuning.com we can get you a revised map that will solve the issue or you can revert to a v1.05 map as others have stated. We should have a general fix for this issue available shortly.
