Cobb AP option

I drive an 08 X GSR guys and i've got an Ichiba testpipe along with a catback exhaust as far as mods go.
I'm planning to get the Cobb AP soon.
Is that a good idea right now?
I'm getting a downpipe and aftermarket intake later.
Thanks guys.

Do you have any opensource tuners near you?

What market is it? If it is EUDM, I would make sure Cobb has maps for your car / maps that you are looking for.

Its USDM. I got it from the states. So it should all be good.

Then the AP may be a very good option for you.

Sorry to hijack but I have a question and I didn't want to start a new thread for it.

I have been told that there are no AccessPort tunes specifically for Australian cars. I would get my car custom tuned and not use a generic map anyway. Does the AccessPort allow me to custom tune my car out of the box? Is there a large difference between the Pro and Race tuning software?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

Can I custom tune with the AP immediately or do I need other software?

I recommend going the ecuflash route, we tune EVO 1-10 around the world daily via e-mail. You'll end up with a tune designed for your car whereas the AP will be a generic one size fits all tune. http://www.mellontuning.com/index.ph...ex&cPath=18_44

You need software that is not available. If you want a custom tune, you will have to go with the Tactrix Cable and EcuFlash.

It is a cheaper alternative.

Mellon posted as I was typing, but he is a great example to what I was saying.

AP = $600.

Tactrix = $170
Mellon Tune is around $350
Total = $520

It's an OBDII port reader. It allows you to read and write the ROM on your ECU. Then with EcuFlash, you can edit the ROM.

Thanks.

I figured that it was just a go between but was not completely sure.
